If anyone can give the Kardashians a run for their money in turning their family into a lucrative brand, it’s the Beckhams.
Since the moment Victoria and David locked eyes across the Man United players’ lounge in 1997, they’ve lived in the public eye – and in the years that followed, their four children have also enjoyed the spotlight. But, according to insiders, the past few months have forced the pair to do a lot of soul-searching, especially when it comes to their brood – and they’ve once again found themselves at odds.
We’re told David is convinced that the kids should be solely focused on their education, and is starting to regret encouraging the boys to pursue starry careers at such young ages. Cruz, 15, released a song a few years back and still dreams of being the next Justin Bieber, while aspiring tennis player Romeo, 17, has even been trained by superstar Grigor Dimitrov.
However, Victoria’s still keen to help them along with her showbiz mum hat on – and, needless to say, it’s causing a fair bit of friction. No wonder they recently submitted plans to build a separate cottage in the grounds of their Cotswolds estate!

“Homeschooling has really brought the issue of education into focus,” says an insider close to the couple, who are also parents to Brooklyn, 21, and eight-year-old Harper. “David wants to make sure the kids get good grades and study towards having a profession. He’s all for them following their dreams, but he wants them to have a good education. These last few weeks have highlighted things even more. He wishes he could turn back the clock and encourage Brooklyn to stay in college, instead of letting him think that he could be a ‘celebrity influencer’.”
Over the past few years, Brooklyn’s been accused of lacking direction, spending more time on his dating life than his career, and living off his family’s name. In 2018, the self-styled photographer dropped out of art college in New York, and has since dipped in and out of internships, without sticking to any one project. He’s currently quarantining with girlfriend Nicola Peltz in the US away from the rest of his family, who are in the Cotswolds. But while David thinks the younger kids should take a different path to their big brother, we’re told Victoria thinks it’s just as important to foster their career ambitions now.

“Vic thinks the best way for them to succeed is to give them a platform to build their names. She really knows the value of the Beckham brand – she wants to use all her connections to help her kids follow their dreams. But David wants to keep them sheltered until they’re ready to do something properly. He’s nervous that things could backfire and they could be labelled ‘celebrity brats’, which would be a disaster for their self-confidence.”
On the bright side, David, it sounds like Harper hasn’t decided whether she’ll be the next Andy Warhol, Serena Williams or Ariana Grande. Maybe just focus all your efforts on keeping her in school.
