Scott Disick and Sofia Ritchie split

It was revealed last week that Scott Disick and Sofia Richie had split up after three years together. The couple had been isolating separately in their homes in California, and while heat has previously reported the rocky status of their relationship, it seems the final straw came when Scott celebrated his 37th birthday with ex-girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian and their children.

And an insider close to Scott and Sofia tells heat that Kourtney was definitely a major player in their romance falling apart. “Scott and Sofia didn’t split because of Kourt, but it was certainly a huge factor,” says our source. “Sofia says that Kourt and the children were always the ‘wife and kids’ and she felt like the ‘girlfriend’ or even the ‘mistress’ just waiting for him to go back.”

Kourtney and Scott have had an on/off relationship since meeting in 2006. They have three children together – Mason, ten, Penelope, seven, and five-year-old Reign – and it seems that, from Sofia’s point of view, Scott always envisaged getting back together with Kourtney. “Sofia never could shake the feeling that Scott was holding a huge flame for his ex, despite his denials. Once, she started joking about them getting married and having kids and Scott was horrified,” our source explains. “He ruled it out completely – as if he was already married with kids. She realised then what she had been unable to see, that there was no future for them. Sofia is still so young, but she was madly in love with Scott and thought that this was forever.”

The romance hasn’t been without its issues – referring to their 15-year age gap, Sofia’s father, singer Lionel, said he hoped the relationship would be “just a phase”. Scott was also rumoured to have cheated on Sofia in 2018, and most recently, he had another stint in rehab.

And now it seems Kourtney is thinking about her future with Scott again. “She misses Scott with all her heart, but she also knows that he has issues that destroyed their relationship – and until he gets those sorted, she doesn’t want him back,” says the source.

“But she would like want one more baby and would love it to be with him. Scott has told her his trip back to rehab was preventative – it came after months of angst with Sofia and having to make the tough decision to break up.”

The insider adds, “He told Kourt he split with Sofia for a reason, and that reason is he hopes Kourtney will take him back.”
