On the whole, it’s been a good year for the Beckham family. In the last month alone, Victoria Beckham stormed Paris Fashion Week, and David partnered with Prince William to celebrate the launch of new London Air Ambulance helicopters – pretty run-of-the-mill stuff for this pair.
Now, heat has learned that Victoria, 50, and David, 49, are preparing to take the remainder of 2024 up a notch with a swanky vow renewal, which will naturally involve all the family, over the festive period. A source close to the couple says, ‘Both David and Vic have been wanting to renew their vows for a while now. They had planned to do it for their 25th wedding anniversary in July, but they couldn’t find the right venue and their schedules were too packed. So, they’re planning an exotic beach renewal over Christmas, which will end the year of Vic’s 50th celebrations and start the year of David’s.’
The source continues, ‘They always want as many of the kids as possible with them over the festive period – and this is great way to do that, as they want all the children to play major roles. They’ve had one of their biggest years, personally and business-wise, and they want to mark that. The vow renewal would prove to all the doubters how strong they are and that they can overcome anything.’
While the last 12 months have brought some resounding successes for Brand Beckham and its offspring – food influencer Brooklyn, 25; footballer-turned-model Romeo, 22; wannabe musician Cruz, 19; and only daughter Harper, 13 – we’re told the release of Tom Bower’s book, The House Of Beckham in June, put a slight dampener on Vic and David’s big silver anniversary.
The renowned biographer made some unflattering claims about the couple’s relationship, including that former Spice Girl Vic punched David in the face after a reports he’d kissed another woman while she was pregnant with Brooklyn. The couple allegedly fled to Lake Como in Italy to try to work through it, and ended up getting married four months after Brooklyn was born in July 1999. As well as claiming that the couple are incredibly tight with money, the book also alleged that they hit an extremely low point in 2016, to the extent they were essentially leading separate lives, barely speaking and living in what writer Tom labelled a ‘distant business relationship’.
Vic and David – who struck up their world-famous romance in 1997 – were also forced to revisit the ex-footballer’s alleged affair with his former PA Rebecca Loos off the back of the acclaimed docuseries Beckham. While Rebecca maintains that she and David had an affair in 2003, it’s something Inter Miami owner David has always strenuously denied – and while he talked of the ‘horrible stories’ putting pressure on his marriage in the docu, he stopped short of admitting any relationship.
Now, our source says that while Vic and David have faced some obstacles, the power couple have made a pact to be together forever and a vow renewal would cement the strength of their marriage. ‘Even though they are very happy, their marriage hasn’t always been easy and even in the past year, they’ve had to deal with allegations about the past and the strain it put on them,’ we’re told. ‘But they have made a pact that nothing can break them and want to do something elaborate just to show to everyone that they’ll be together forever.’
In 2017, David revealed that he and Vic had renewed their vows at home, with only six people in attendance. Opening up about their relationship, David insisted they didn’t stay together for ‘a brand’ but because of love and their four children. And our insider says that, with the fashion designer soon to be at the helm of her own fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary, the timing of their Christmas vow renewal could be the icing on the brand Beckham cake.
‘The renewal may be filmed for Vic’s show, as producers know how much viewers would want to see that,’ we’re told. ‘It would be filmed in a very classy way, as Vic would only want to show certain elements, but it would be TV gold.
