Love Island fans were left in shock over the weekend when 2018 couple Wes Nelson and Megan Barton-Hanson announced they'd split, with possibly one of the best split statement since Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin 'consciously uncoupled' in 2016.
After weeks of drama, which involved Megan laying into Wes' Dancing On Ice partner, Vanessa Bauer, Meg revealed the sad news on her Instagram Story on Saturday afternoon.
Revealing they will co-parent their new hamster, Megan wrote, 'It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate, We have been working hard for well under a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.'
She continued, 'We are however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to one incredibly wonderful hamster and we ask for his and out space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We haven't really conducted our relationship that privately , and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner. Love, Megan & Wes'.
The model later posted another follow up comment that was slightly more serious. She wrote, 'In all seriousness, I am so grateful and so blessed to have found Wes, I will always love and adore him and I am so lucky to call him my best friend, it has been an incredibly hard decision to make for both of us but we are both looking forward to moving on together as friends and supporting each other in everything we do. I will be down at Dancing On Ice tomorrow to watch him smash i again. Only one thing left to say come on Wes and Vanessa'.
Although Megan was spotted crying during a night out with her friends, it seems Wes is taking the recent break-up a lot better, seemingly mocking Megan's statement on his own Instagram page.
Ahead of his performance on Dancing On Ice last night, Wes took to Instagram to share some hilarious memes created by fans, about his hamster. Sharing a meme of a hamster with the words. 'Megan and Wes' hamster realising it now comes from a broken home', Wes captioned it with, 'You guys are f------ quick'.
The Love Island star later shared another hilarious meme, writing, 'More 🤣🤣🤣'.
Meanwhile, despite Megan and Wes announcing their break-up on Saturday, Megan was spotted in the Dancing On Ice audience supporting her ex last night, leaving fans wondering what is going on between the pair.
We hope they work things out for the sake of their hamster. 🙈
