It’s only natural that cliques will start to form when 16 strangers are locked up inside the Big Brother house for six weeks with absolutely no communication with the outside world, but it’s safe to say that the divide between the Big Brother 2024 housemates was well and truly dividing.
On one side of the house you had winner Ali Bromley, her bestie Lily Benson and pals like Dean Quinton and Nathan King and then on the other side, there was Khaled Khaled, Segun Shodipo, Hanah Haji, Marcello Spooks and Thomas Atkinson – or, as they like to call themselves – The Core.
Marcello and Segun famously coined the term ‘The Red Witch’ to describe Ali and, well, we all know about her turbulent relationship with Khaled. But although they often found themselves at odds in the house, it turns out that Ali didn’t even know the group had given themselves a nickname.
Speaking exclusively to heatworld after winning the show, Ali explained, ‘So I only found out yesterday that there was a group in the house referring to themselves as The Core, and identifying that there were other housemates that were outliers and at the same time I was talking about a hierarchy in the house, so we had sort of independently come up with our own theories. These were actually quite similar, but used different words to describe them.
‘On that basis alone, I'd say the divide was fairly obvious. It could be very well felt at times, but you know, there were also these times where there was a crossover between different groups and that was lovely.’
But despite often butting heads with The Core, Ali admitted she had ‘some of my best moments in the house’ with Segun, Marcello and Khaled.
‘Who else would I have done the wallflower dance with if not Marcello? That was one of my favourite days and one of my favourite memories from the house,’ she added.
‘Yes, there was division at times, but that certainly wasn't the only feeling in the house.'
We wonder if they’ll receive an invite to Ali’s wedding to her partner Cherelle? We already know Lily’s got an important role in the ceremony.
