Now that this year's Big Brother past the halfway mark now, the British niceties are long gone; housemates are telling other housemates exactly what they think of one another, and they are not holding back.
One example that comes to mind is when recently-evicted Big Brother 2024 housemate Dean Quinton told Sarah Griffiths exactly why he wouldn't be keeping in touch with her on the outside as part of the Vampires vs Villagers shopping task, and A LOT was said – primarily, 'Sometimes when she speaks, it f**king winds me up' and 'Anyone that wears shoes like that – we cannot be friends'. Savage.
Another housemate who has not held back in sharing his dislike for a particular housemate is Nathan King.
Actually, to be fair, Nathan has slagged off a fair few of his housemates both to their face and behind their backs, but he had a particularly apparent dislike for recently-evicted queen of slay, Martha Church.
While Martha was fully aware of Nathan's dislike of her, it seems she had no clue just how intense his dislike actually was. Martha has been out of the house for several days now and, naturally, has had a chance to catch up on key moments from the house and been briefed on what the public has seen. Of course, this includes some of the 'strong' things Nathan has said about her both to his fellow housemates and in the Diary Room.
When we sat down for an exclusive one-on-one with Martha, we just had to ask her thoughts on said bad-mouthing footage. It turns out she has seen it, and while she knew how Nathan felt about her, seeing it back has left her 'shocked'.
She told heatworld, 'I didn’t realise [Nathan] had so many strong things to say about me until I came out of the house. I’ve had a little watch, and I was a bit shocked.
'When I first met Nathan I thought we would really get on, and I wanted to get on with Nathan but I am a chronic people pleaser.'
Martha went on to explain how she believes many of her housemates and, indeed, the viewers have 'misunderstood' her, and that there's a good reason for some of her actions in the Big Brother house.
Martha explained, 'I am a chronic people pleaser. I think that’s apparently obvious and I don’t think that’s come across the way I intended to. I’ve think I’ve been a bit misunderstood and people think I’m two-faced and actually, it comes from a place of love, from a place of wanting to be liked and wanting to fit in. I think that obviously it doesn’t transpire on the TV; you see like one hour.'
Bringing the conversation back to the topic of Nathan, Martha explained, 'Listen, I still have nothing but love for Nathan. He’s an amazing person and he’s done so well in his life. Some people just don’t like you, and that’s fine. It’s part of growing up as an adult; I have to learn, that’s something I struggle with, I always have to be liked. I’ve always been different and I never fitted in anywhere, so I used to make extra effort to try and fit in with people.
'It’s just apparent that Nathan doesn’t really like me, and that’s okay. I don’t think he’s a bad person, I don’t think he’s a horrible person, I just think Nathan is Nathan. I’m just not in his "top eight", he said to me. It is what it is – probably won’t be best friends on the outside, but there’s no hard feelings.
Very big of you, Martha, but one final question, 'Will you still be officiating Nathan and Baked Potato's wedding after all of this?'
Martha replied, laughing, '[I wanted to do the wedding] until I saw what Nathan said. You can carry your own ring, babes.’
