As one half of Love Island’s most successful couple with his wife of six years Olivia Bowen, Alex Bowen knows more than most what makes a strong partnership in the villa. So naturally we had to ask the 33 year old what he thought of the current series of Love Island: All Stars – especially since his former season two co-stars, Scott Thomas and Tina Stinnes, have coupled up with each other.
Alex exclusively told us, ‘Tina was the one that got away for Scott. I feel like they never had that real chance to build a connection. And obviously Tina’s his type on paper so I’m excited to see where their relationship goes.
'Tina was one of Liv’s bridesmaids and Scott and I speak quite a bit so it’s nice to see them together. Maybe we’ll even go on a double date with them!’
That being said, the season two bombshell did reveal the one factor that could mean the end of Scott and Tina’s blossoming romance: long distance. With Scott based in Manchester whilst Tina films our joint favourite reality series (with Love Island of course) Made in Chelsea in London, could the pair be over before they’ve even really begun?
‘Obviously long distance can be a factor in it not working,’ Alex explained. ‘But I just think if you do like the person enough then you will take the plunge and move. But I mean, Manchester and London - it's like a two-hour train, it's not hard.’
Maybe Scott and Tina should take a leaf out of Alex and Olivia’s book. Birmingham-based Alex decided to follow his girlfriend Olivia to Essex after leaving the Love Island villa and the pair have been going strong ever since – even welcoming their son Abel in 2022.
Alex concluded, ‘They’re a great match and I think they’ll be able to make the long distance work. When you want to make something work, you’re willing to make sacrifices like moving for them.
‘Once Liv and I landed in the UK it took me all of ten minutes to decide that I would move straight to Essex. It would be funny to see Scott on Made in Chelsea as well!’
