When it comes to Love Island break-ups it's rarely as simple as, 'Yeah, we went our separate ways but we don't hate each other'. It is often either full of cheating scandals, passive aggressive memes and a public feud, or is shrouded in mystery with a million unanswered questions.
The demise of Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti's relationship was a two for one deal and a combination of both.
After a few weeks of 'are they/aren't they?', the Love Island 2022 winners announced they had split in January 2024 after eighteen months together, with Ekin-Su heading into the Celebrity Big Brother house shortly after.
Neither went in to much detail about the break-up at the time and although a few comments were thrown here and there nobody quite knew what the hell went down between the Italian stallion and the Turkish delight.
But as a recent guest on Abbey Clancy's Exhibit A podcast, Ekin-Su opened up about what happened between the two former Islanders and what Davide did that finally made her say, 'Thanks, but no thanks'.
She confessed, 'When he swore at my mum in Italy. He told her to "eff off", because my mum didn't want him to fake propose to me.'
Whatever we though she was going to say, that wasn't that.
'He fake proposed to me in Italy; he thought it was funny to arrange a paparazzi, I'm not a toy,' she added and louder for the people at the back, Ekin.
'You can't do that to me, I'm a human being with feelings and I actually thought he was going to propose,' the reality TV star explained. 'This was two years down the line with my mum and brother there. My mum just said, 'Don't do that', and he swore at my mum.
A clip of the interview made it's way to The Shade Borough's Instagram grid and the account's followers had SEVERAL words for Davide.
One person wrote, 'Definitely grounds for breakup, as much as he was funny as hell, he had major redflags so i’m not suprised,' with another adding, 'Swearing at your future mother-in-law cannot be a good sign for your future marriage.'
Naturally, people are now hoping to hear Davide's view on the ordeal as a fan declared, 'We need to hear Davide’s version because I don’t trust Ekin Su,' with someone else joking, 'Davide doesn't have a filter on his lips💀😭not very demure davide 🤣🤣🤣🤣.'
