It’s one of the toughest reality shows on TV, and as Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns for a sixth series, it’s set to be the hardest yet.
A new batch of celebrities have taken on the gruelling challenge, and we’ll see them being pushed to their limits by a team of ex-special forces soldiers. This time, they are headed to New Zealand, where they experienced brutal weather conditions used to prepare the UK military for winter warfare operations.
heat caught up with some of the recruits – including Love Island star Georgia Harrison, 29, reality TV star Bianca Gascoigne, 37, TV presenter Cherry Healey, 43, and ex-pro boxer Anthony Ogogo, 35 – to find out more…
First up, it’s Georgia...
Why did you sign up?
I’ve always been a fan of the show, but I didn’t think I’d have the balls to actually do it. It was a really good opportunity to test my resilience.
What was the expectation vs reality?
I always expected it to be tough, but it was absolutely freezing in New Zealand – and that was an aspect to the challenge I wasn’t expecting. I thought I was going to be in the desert or somewhere where I could at least top up my tan. It was a lot harder than I ever anticipated.
Did you surprise yourself?
I pushed myself further than I ever thought I could go and I realised just how strong I can be. It was the best experience I’ve ever had and I learnt so much from it. I also discovered just how much I appreciate my actual life – how nice it is to be able to go to the toilet on your own, eat what you want and just exist.
How did you find the challenges?
We started off with a massive heights challenge, which I thought I’d be really good at. I’ve been doing yoga for years, which involves balancing, and I thought, ‘I’m going to glide across this thing!’ But it was so tough. I was absolutely petrified.
Was there any rivalry between the celebs?
I think everyone had each other’s backs. When you’re living in that environment, there’s going to be a couple of times where you get on each other’s nerves and your personalities clash, but in general, it felt more like we were a team than competing against each other.
Who did you bond with the most?
I made friends for life. Bobby Norris is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He made the whole experience better for everyone, just because there were so many times where morale was really low and he’d say something hilarious and everyone would start cracking up. We really needed that
