The Love Island fandom was left stunned this week when Love Island couple Jessy Potts and Joey Essex called it quits on their relationship, just days after hitting the red carpet together at The National Television Awards.
heatworld, however, was not left stunned.
As much as we loved these two Love Island 2024 lovelies together, like some of the sceptics inside the Love Island villa, we just weren't seeing the longevity here given Joey's A-list, jet-setting lifestyle.
Despite Jessy popping round our offices a few weeks back to assure us the relationship – despite its obvious complications – was giving forever, we couldn't help but feel this fairy tale romance only had a few chapters in it – and here we are.
The former couple announced their split via The Sun (so showbiz) earlier this week, with Joey telling the publication, 'Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends.
'I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.'
While Jessy added, 'I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be.
'I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.'
We haven't heard much from Jessy since; that is until Thursday (19 September) evening when she took to her Instagram grid to share what we can only describe as a blistering post-split revenge post. Sharing several snaps of herself sizzling in a gorgeous evening gown, Jessy captioned the post, 'hot girl autumn?'
It's the question mark for us.
The Love Island queen is, of course, suggesting that perhaps she missed out on her 'hot girl summer' after shacking up with Joey and giving exclusive a go in and out of the villa. We wish we could say that was the reason we missed out on 'hot girl summer' this year, but there you go.
Anyway, whether this post was a subtle dig at Joey or not, we're here for this new era in Jessy's rise to stardom.
Jessy chose to couple up with Joey at her first recoupling, after entering the villa on day 23. She remained with the Essex hunk for the remainder of her Love Island journey and the couple stayed together for seven weeks outside of the villa.
Which is still pretty good by Love Island standards, let's be honest.
