Georgia Steel has opened up about her experiences of Love Island's aftercare procedure after the show faced criticism over its approach to islanders' welfare from former contestants including Jonny Mitchell and Malin Andersson.
Following the tragic death of Mike Thalassitis last month and Sophie Gradon's passing in summer 2018, Love Island bosses released a statement assuring viewers that their 'duty of care is a continuous and ongoing process for each Islander.'
Now, 2018 star Georgia's admitted the show provided her with an 'open phone' line and support system should she have needed it.
Speaking to heatworld at the launch of 5Star's new reality show Celebs on the Ranch, Georgia claimed she 'always knew' there was help available if she found herself struggling to cope with fame.
"I always knew that there was an open phone there," she said. "I think it’s different for every individual.
"For me, I always knew I had it there if I needed it."
Asked how she's adjusted to life in the limelight and the unfortunate possibility of falling victim to online trolls, Georgia revealed: "There’s a really good quote I know and I live by it. It’s ‘don’t take it personally if they don’t know you personally.’ It’s true. All I care about are my family and my friends.
"If you like me, great. If you don’t, it doesn’t bother me."
Fellow 2018 islander and Celebs on the Ranch co-star Eyal Booker added: "The good outweighs the bad. For every troll there’s ten or twenty people that love, support and stick up for you."
