For most contestants, appearing on Love Island means instant fame and an abundance of Instagram followers. While this year’s series isn't going ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic, bosses are apparently considering shaking things up for the 2021 series.

And one of the options in the pipeline for series seven - whenever it airs, that is - is that the show might be pre-recorded to help prepare islanders for fame.

"The welfare of the islanders is the top priority for ITV bosses and there are continual talks about it," a source told The Sun. "Pre-recording the show is one of the ideas to be mooted in planning meetings.

"It would mean the contestants would be back in the UK when the show aired, meaning they would be more prepared for the overnight fame that comes with being on."

The source continued, "This is one of many ideas that have been thrown around ahead of the next series in 2021 and it’s proved popular with some of the team.”

As well as Islanders being back in the UK when the series airs, this also means there would no longer be live evictions.

This summer's series has already been cancelled, with host Laura Whitmore confirming the news earlier this month. "Like with a lot of things because of restrictions with travel, social distancing and unable to plan ahead, Love Island is postponed until 2021," she wrote on Twitter. Love Island favourite Molly-Mae Hague revealed over the weekend that she went on the show "as a business move" as she answered fans assumptions in a YouTube video.
