It seems that Love Island's Maura Higgins would rather do anything than admit that she and Pete Wicks are officially an item – despite the fact they seem to be going from strength to strength, with the pair even rumoured to have spent Christmas together.
Maura, 34, and Pete, 37, first sparked romance rumours last August, and have since been pictured on several dates. The duo also reportedly enjoyed a festive holiday at Glasson Lakehouse in Ireland last month, prompting fans to suspect Maura had brought Pete home to meet her family.
But even with all the evidence, Maura – who admitted she ‘missed’ Pete while she was in the I’m A Celebrity jungle – has remained guarded about her not-so-secret relationship with the TOWIE bad boy.
During an interview last week, the Love Island 2019 star replied ‘yes’ when she was asked if she had terrible taste in men, but admitted falling in love again ‘would be lovely.’ She added, ‘I don’t feel like I need a man. But I’ll date… and if it happens, it happens.’
Pete – a self-confessed ‘commitment-phobe’ has previously admitted, ‘Settling down is the bit I just can’t do. The minute a relationship gets to the point where I seem to be having an impact on someone’s life, it scares the shit out of me.’
However, last week, he gave us a glimmer of hope when he opened up about Maura on a podcast, calling her ‘super-intelligent’ and an ‘incredible person’, but sadly only going as far as admitting, ‘We spend more time with each other than we did before.’
