If there is one thing you can rely on when it comes to Love Island contestants, it's that at least one of them will know someone from a previous season. This year, there were a few Islanders with connections to dating show alumni; Megan Forte-Clarke, for example, is pals with Harriett Blackmore – in fact she was one of the first people Megan called when she left the villa.

Then, of course, series 12 finalist Ty Isherwood has a famous cousin who appeared on the show once upon a time.

The Casa Amor fella is cousins with Casa Amor girlie Cheyanne Kerr, and during an exclusive chat with heatworld, we asked Ty if she had offered any advice prior to his stint on the romance reality TV show.

'My cousin Cheyanne was in Casa Amor, can't remember what's season it was,' he admitted, 'I think it might have been eight.'

Right you are, Ty. Cheyanne, like Ty, joined during the always tricky Casa week, although she had a flirt and kiss with Jacques O'Neill she didn't make it back to the main villa.

'Yeah she gave me a bit of advice before coming in,' he revealed, '[she] just told me to be myself, stay true to myself and it'll show a lot.'

It did show and being 'true to himself' landed Ty in fourth place alongside bombshell, Angel Swift. The show was won by Toni Laites and Ty's villa bestie, Cach Mirjah Mercer.

'So I just stayed true to myself in there really,' he admitted.

Speaking of Cach, it was a particular vulnerable moment between Ty and Cach that cemented them as viewers' faves.

When Cach realised Toni – who he had drawn close to – still had feelings for Harrison Solomon he turned to Ty for support.

The cameras caught a moment of kindness from Ty as he wiped away Cach's tears as he cried on the terrace and Cach admitted to feeling 'embarrassed'.

'No man, don't be. This is no reflection of you, it's them,' he told Cach.

A few days later, they were picked as most popular boys in the villa and a week or so later, both boys made it to the final.

Toxic masculinity, who? Ty and Cach can't relate.
