The moment we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived earlier this week when Married At First Sight UK returned to our screens and introduced us to 16 new singletons crazy brave enough to marry someone the first time they meet them.
One of the first brides to walk down the aisle was Charlie Curtis, a 30-year-old lettings operations co-ordinator from Surrey, who tied the knot with Eve Reid, a 30-year-old fitness instructor from Omagh in Northern Ireland.
We had a sneaky feeling that we recognised Charlie when we saw her on our screens for the first time, and it seems we should trust our intuition more as we were right – this isn’t the first time that she’s attempted to look for love on TV.
In fact, Charlie’s telly debut was pretty star-studded as she appeared alongside a TOWIE star on a show narrated by a Hollywood icon.
Back in 2022, Charlie was one of the contestants on Amazon Prime’s Lovestruck High. The show, which featured a group of British singles entering the world of an American high school (even though it was actually filmed in Devon) in the hopes of the finding The One AND winning $100,000, also starred Junaid Ahmed and was narrated by Lindsay Lohan.
Charlie appeared in all eight episodes of the series and although she didn’t find love on TV the first time, it clearly hasn’t put her off as she back for another crack off the whip. Let’s hope things work out better the second time around.
Ahead of her appearance on MAFS, Charlie said, “I’m at the age now where I want to settle down.”
She came out as gay when she was 25 years old and describes it as “one of the most significant moments” of her life.
Following a difficult breakup, Charlie has been single for four years but is hoping to settle down and start a family.
