Although there was plenty of chaos on this year’s Married At First Sight UK, one person who remained calm and level-headed throughout all of the drama was Emma Barnes.
Okay, so her relationship with Caspar Todd didn’t take off after he compared her to his sister and told her he’d ‘never fancied curvier women’ (rude), but Emma kept her head held high and knew her worth throughout the whole experiment and we basically all fell in love with her. What a queen.
Now that the show is over, Emma’s been dishing out some juicy behind the scenes goss about how she got scouted to appear and it turns out that her MAFS UK 2024 stint only came about because she was ‘rejected’ from another show.
In an interview with her co-star Kristina Goodsell, Emma explained, ‘I got scouted. Not really, but I did. I actually applied for Love is Blind, the first series of Love is Blind, and Netflix rejected me.
‘But then I got a voice note in September being like, “Fancy MAFS?” and I’m like, “Fancy MAFS?”’
On the other hand, Kristina revealed that she did apply for the show. She said, ‘I actually applied to go on Married At First Sight UK.’
She added, ‘I feel like with mine, it was off the whim. My bridesmaid Holly, she sent it to me and she was like, “Come on, this is your time. This is your time,” and I’m thinking, “Ha, yeah right. Who’s going to want me? Who’s going to want to marry me? And here we are.’
Although we glad that Emma ended up on MAFS, is it just us that can totally see her fitting right in on the first series of Love is Blind UK?
Although, to be fair, neither show has had the most impressive success rate. Currently, only Jasmine and Bobby Johnson and Nicole Stevens and Benaiah Grunewald Brydie are still together from Love is Blind and hardly any of this year’s MAFS UK couples are still together.
