It’s fair to say that most of the couples on this year’s Married At First Sight UK have been going through it. We’ve already lost three pairs after both Hannah Norburn and Stephen Nolson and Richelle Cade and Orson Nurse quit this week and it’s rumoured that there’s more exits to come.
However, one couple who have actually had a relatively smooth journey so far is Lacey Martin and Nathan Campbell.
Okay, they’ve had a couple of hiccups – most notably when he thought her sister Paige was his bride and when he made her mum cry after she cooked him dinner – but we’ll eat our hat if they don’t make it to the end of the experiment.
But although their relationship has been relatively drama-free, Lacey recently admitted that she felt ‘let down’ by Nathan in scenes that aired earlier this week.
In an explosive reveal, Lacey exposed the fact that Hannah and Orson had shared a kiss behind the backs of their partners Stephen and Richelle. This led to a huge kick-off, in which Alex Henry branded Lacey a ‘snake’.
Fans took to social media in the wake of all the drama to question why Nathan didn’t defend Lacey, with one viewer asking her, ‘Why didn’t Nathan back you when Alex called you a snake? Did that bother you a little?’
On her Instagram story, Lacey responded, ‘If I’m truly truly truly honest, yeah it did upset me as I would always stick up for my man. Nathan doesn’t like confrontation and I guess I just respected it.
‘I did explain how it made me feel and he understood. But yes I did feel let down. So I completely understand why Sac[ha Jones] wanted Ross [McCarthy] to say "don’t speak to my wife like that" x.’
And when another fan commented that Nathan appears ‘awkward on camera’, Lacey admitted, ‘Yeah, Nathan struggled a lot, he didn’t enjoy the filming at times. I really helped him and made sure he was supported by me.
‘He was more talkative off camera! x.’
