When celebs make the transition from TV personality to pop star, the results can be very varied. Kylie Minogue's evolution from Neighbours' Charlene Robinson to bona fide pop princess? ICONIC. Will Mellor's post-Hollyoaks 1998 single When I Need You? Not so much.
Thankfully, former Geordie Shore star Joel Corry's managed a seamless switch-up and released what's undeniably 2019's biggest summer banger; Sorry.
Since the track's been making waves on the White Isle and even been played on Love Island(the ultimate accolade), we thought we'd catch up with the KISS FM presenter to find out he went from reality telly-type to one of the UK's most-hyped DJs.
Oh hey, Joel! 'Sorry' has BLOWN UP, hasn't it?
"It's the best feeling in the world, a total dream come true.
"Sorry's become a massive summer anthem, and watching the crowds going mad when I drop it in my DJ sets is such a buzz."
The track was played on Love Island, too. Any faves from this series?
"I've been away DJing on my summer tour so I've not been watching, but my mates kept me updated on the WhatsApp group.
"Molly-Mae Hague is banging. Tommy Fury, you’re a lucky guy!"
Who was the last person you actually had to say 'Sorry' to and what was it for? 👀
"I apologised to a club manager last week for blowing his speakers up. Maybe I was playing Sorry too loud? Oops."
Geordie Shore's returning with a load of the original cast, including Gary Beadle and Holly Hagan. Would you ever go back to reality TV?
"I'd never say never, but right now I am completely focused on my music.
"Geordie Shore was an amazing part of my life. I have the best memories, and will always be grateful for the experience."
Who's the one dream artist you'd love to get on a track?
"Kanye West. He's the most creative artist of our generation; it would unreal to experience a studio session with him and watch his process. I'd love to hear Kanye drop bars over some house beats!"
Check out Joel Corry on KISS FM every Thursday evening.
