Rewind back to March 2015, Zayn Malik decided to leave the immensely successful boyband One Direction, and fans were left distraught. Now, three years later, despite the remaining four starting a hiatus in 2016, all five of the boys are having very successful solo careers, however, there are ENDLESS rumours that there might be (or might not be) a One Direction reunion on the horizon.
Now, former member Zayn Malik has left his fans super excited after mentioning the boyband on Instagram. Posting a pic showing a black and grey jacket and a pair of trainers, with the words, '1 billion views DTD', written on them, he captioned the photo, 'From 1D days .... just shipped out to a couple of you 😎'.
Of course it wasn't long before fans noticed the mention of his former boyband, and now, less than a day after the post, it has attracted a massive 55,000 comments at the time of writing. It's also amassed 1.6 million likes. With comments such as, 'O. M. G. Did you JUST say 1D?!?!?', 'We never forget you guys 💕🇮🇪💙💚💛❤️', and '😭💟😭💖😭💖😭💕😭💕😭💖💟😭😭💖😭😭💔💔💔💖😭💖😭', it's clear that One Direction are still very much in their fans' hearts!

In fact it was only last month that a HUGE 1D fan did a university presentation on the One Direction boys saying, 'One Direction is a lot more than just a band, because they shaped me.'
University student Mallory Adams explained in the video, "I had 246 posters on my wall when I was 15, and I would do the same today.
"It’s been the most consistent thing in my life. I’ve travelled to four different states solely for the purpose of seeing the boys, making it a total of six concerts in five different states - these being California twice, Arizona, Vegas, Indiana, and my own state, Utah. Unfortunately, I cried my eyes out at every concert."

Mallory went on to reveal that her favourite member of the group is Niall Horan, posting a short video of when she met her idol at the age of 12.
Although the One Direction online shop closed last month, making many fans think there was no hope of a reunion, it wasn't long before the reunion rumours were back. New X Factor judge Louis Tomlinson revealed in an interview that they 'could' reunite. Liam Payne then uploaded a photo of the band from the beginning of their incredible journey as One Direction, Liam simply captioned the snap '1000 days'.
Liam then addressed the rumours while in Australia saying, "Me personally as me, I would love to get back together at some point. I think when it is all comfortable for everyone else. Rushing these things is how things get messed up."
The 'For You' singer continued, "We made such great success and that comes at a cost and I think we need to take that into account. I think we will all benefit by getting to know ourselves a bit better rather than ourselves within the band and I have always said this."
