1847 - Manchester
For high quality vegetarian cuisine in a slick setting, take a trip to 1847. Their inventive, flavour-packed dishes will bring your wildest veggie dreams to life, such as the jerk chickpeas that are divinely paired with pineapple salsa, curried mango and pickled chilli that's designed to rival any signature dish from your favourite Carribean restaurant. They also serve a drool-inducing helping of sprouts that come pimped with a not-so-healthy (but completely irresistible) downpour of cashews and miso butter.
Food For Friends - Brighton
Food For Friends are cooking up irresistible award-winning eats at their veggie joint in Brighton. You and your friends can sip on their organic wine and coffee for as long as you like, as they conveniently cater for every meal of the day. Their brunch menu boasts everything from fluffy blueberry pancakes to crispy corn fritters, and the evening grub is just as good. The spiced Morrocan tagine from their main menu is a dream, with the 'meat' made up of slow and low roasted chickpeas and sweet apricots.
Paradise Palms - Edinburgh
This award-winning vegetarian eatery has effortlessly injected some plant-based flare into a classic American diner menu. The chipotle mac 'n' cheese is made with three types of cheese, dusted with a walnut crumb for a bit of crunch. But that's not all folks, there's plenty of other comfort food dishes to sink your teeth into, like the southern fried seitan, and the lucky fish burger that's made with tequila beer-battered tofu. Another reason to visit? Their interiors are as whacky as the come; you'll see a sea of neon signage with teddy bears and Hawaiian shirts dangle from the ceiling.
Genesis - London
Genesis made quite a commotion with its opening in 2018, bringing clever cuisine collaborations, like Mexican and Chinese, to the hungry people of Shoreditch. That's not all they're famous for; they have some seriously Instagrammable interiors and the menu is completely meat-free. They've got tonnes of curious creations but the tacos are a must, offering everything from fried avocado tacos to a juicy jackfruit hoisin taco with hoisin mayo and cucumber filling.
Tell Your Friends - London
Tell Your Friends is a 100% vegan bar and it's taking vegetarian cooking to the next level. From burgers to bowls, every dish takes you on a flavourful journey of discovery; the winter Buddah bowl is highly recommended and it comes with a bed of quinoa baked tofu, kimchi and roasted celeriac, drizzled with a miso sambal dressing. Clean-eating at its best? You know it.
Four Quarters - London
This Peckham funhouse is decked out with retro arcade games and consoles, and they've devised a perfectly playful menu of treats to snack on between rounds. The c-bombs are little golden nuggets of battered cauliflower in a sweet chilli glaze; but be warned - one portion won't be enough. The penthouse fries are also a must-try; crispy fries come drowning in buffalo and blue cheese sauce with some truffle oil, because why not. You won't be letting any of this vegetarian/vegan junk food go to waste, that's for sure.
The Stable - London
The Stable are constantly impressing diners with their signature sourdough pizzas. For your weekly dose of dairy, make your way to Jack the Ripper's old stomping grounds and order the four cheese special - it's a melty mess of cheddar, blue cheese, goats' cheese and Dorset Red smoked cheddar. They happen to have an entire vegan section on the menu if you want to ditch dairy for the night. The good life features roasted courgette with chilli flakes, aubergine, peppers, onions and a surprisingly moreish vegan mozzarella.
The Star of Bethnal Green - London
The Star of Bethnal Green? This no-nonsense pub is pairing locally brewed beers with epic comfort food, including some killer vegetarian options. Word on the street is that their wild mushroom and sage hash is a tempting treat for even the most devoted meat-lover, made up of fried potatoes tossed with garlic mushrooms, sage and sprouts. Throw in a vegan hollandaise sauce, and you'll most definitely be lapping it all up from the plate. They've also given a veggie twist to their roast dinner, offering up a heaped plate with all the usual trimmings, alongside cauliflower cheese and stuffed mushrooms.
Rosa’s Thai Cafe - London
Rosa's Thai Cafe has a whole section of their menu dedicated to veggie-friendly dishes. Overflowing with curries and noodle plates that closely mimic the options on their main menu, there's no need to eye up your friend's meaty meal - not when you can grab the veggie version for yourself. The drunken noodles, a spicy mix of tofu, vegetables and thai spices, and Rosa's green curry, a chunky curry made up of tofu, aubergine and bamboo shoots, are just a few examples of the flavour-packed dishes you need to try.
Mao Chow - London
Mao Chow are experts in spicing up Chinese food with a modern, plant-based twist, and word on the street is that they're getting a permanent home in Hackney. Their minimalist menu might not have a heap of options but as the saying goes: it's about quality over quantity. Smacked cucumber might sound completely bizarre but it's one of their most popular dishes, alongside their freshly made boa and dumplings.
Zizzi's - UK
Last month, Zizzi's launched a delicious new vegan menu including a vegan mozzarella pizza dubbed Mozzarisella and made from germinated, Italian whole rice, without milk and lactose. A range of other non-gluten containing dishes and a vegan dessert also made their debut, so gather your mates for a sampling session.
Eat by CHLOE. - London
Eat by CHLOE. is in Instagrammable hotspot that boasts plant-based food and delicious fresh juices. As well as satisfying your tastebuds, this joint will help make your Insta-feed look ultra cool. We love.
