If, like us, gin drinking and potion making are up there on your list of top things to do of a weekend then you are very much in luck.

Marks & Spencer is launching a collection of flavoured gins with a colour changing twist, which has us feeling more like extras in a boozy Harry Potter spin-off than very serious, high-brow journalists (we jest).

Teaming with Scottish distillery, The Old Curiosity, M&S is brining two now flavoured gins with magical colour changing properties to store shelves this spring.

The gins come in two flavours: British Rose, which transforms from a pale gold to a bright fuschia with a splash of tonic, and British Lavender – this also changes from purple to pink.

And you thought we’d reached peak millennial with the gin-flavoured cheese, didn’t you?

So, here’s the science-y bit.

“The gins keep the natural properties of the plants they're made from, consequently, when tonic is added, not only does the mixer open up the 'nose' of these fabulous gins, it changes the pH of the spirit together with its original colour,” an M&S spokesperson explained.

They also revealed: “The gins are 100 per cent naturally distilled and infused using florals and other botanicals and are free of chemicals, sugars, fruit extracts or flavour compounds.”

M&S’s colour-changing gins will be available to buy in store and online from next week, and cost £25 a bottle.

BRB, we’re just off to grab the essential cauldron and goblets for the summer barbecue season.
