Ant McPartlin addresses rumours that’s he ‘been involved’ in this year’s I’m A Celebrity

After Geordie TV presenter Ant McPartlin announced he would be taking a break from all showbiz duties earlier this year, fans of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here were left in shock yesterday when reports suggested he HAD been involved in this year's show.

The rumours started when ITV weather presenter Emma Jesson suggested that Ant had been writing the live scripts for Holly Willoughby and Dec Donnelly. Taking to Twitter she wrote, 'I am informed that Ant was consulted for scripted Holly & Dec links for @imacelebrity series 2018 #imacelebrity⁠ ⁠ #ImACeleb⁠ ⁠ @Ant_McPartlin @antanddec ... top move production team if this is the case, can see his hallmarks there 👍👏👍🎉😀👏'. [sic]

BUT NOW, after a tabloid reached out to Ant's team for a comment, the presenter has hit back at the claims, admitting they are very untrue. A source said, "Ant has not be scripting I’m A Celebrity. He is currently in recovery and is not working at all."

That's that cleared up!

Following his split from his wife Lisa Armstrong and his drink-driving charge earlier this year, it was back in August that Ant confirmed he'd not be presenting this year's series of I'm A Celebrity.

A statement released on his behalf read, "Ant McPartlin today announces he will continue to take a break from all television presenting roles until 2019. Ant will not present ‘I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!’ in November this year.

Ant later added, "My recovery is going very well and for that to continue having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off. I’d like to thank both Dec and TV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year.”

With Holly Willoughby stepping in to host this year's show, Ant sent the new duo a lovely message ahead of the launch show earlier this month.

Taking to his shared Twitter account with Dec, Ant wrote, 'All the very best of luck to the little fella and @hollywills for the show tonight. Lots of love from the big fella!! A #ImACeleb Xxxxx'. [sic]

Meanwhile, as we are now at the half-way stage of this year's I'm A Celebrity, the first elimination of the series will take place tonight (Friday 30th November).
