The fate of the Love is Blind UK couples was finally revealed yesterday when the reunion episode hit Netflix and there were some major surprises.
Sadly, there were more break-ups than happy couples as not only did Sabrina Egerton and Steven Smith reveal they’d split in a HUGE shock, but Catherine Richards and Freddie Powell told hosts Emma and Matt Willis that they’d decided to part ways too – shortly after he said “I don’t” on their wedding day.
Catherine has recently been linked to show ‘villain’ Sam Klein after they were pictured together, however it turns out she’s actually been secretly dating another of her co-stars and they’ve been together for a year.
In a new podcast interview, Catherine revealed she’s dating Jake Singleton-Hall. Now, we don’t blame you if you’re thinking ‘WHO?’, but Jake did appear on the show (promise), he was just one of the cast members that didn’t get much screen time.
As another cast member, Shirley Bekker, recently revealed on TikTok, 11 couples got engaged in the pods but only six were shown on screen and it turns out that Jake was in one of the couples that were left on the cutting room floor.
Catherine told Bailiwick Express, “Jake, he was in the pods, but he wasn't chosen. He got engaged, but he wasn't chosen to go on the retreat. So not everyone is picked, Netflix only choose five couples. I was lucky enough, but sadly, he wasn't. But his journey was very rough in there, like he had a rollercoaster of emotions, like the way he was treated.
“So I reached out to him. I hadn't seen him. I only saw Freddie and the couples on the retreat, so I saw him on socials, and I was like, ‘I wonder if he's the one from the show’, so I messaged him.
“I was like, ‘hey, like, just want to check in, are you okay?’ Because I was in the girl lounge with his fiancée and I just knew the drama that was going on that was crazy. And he messaged me, and he was like, ‘Who is this?’ And I was like, Cat. And he was like, ‘Oh my God’, because he didn't know what I look like!”
After catching up on FaceTime for five hours and speaking “every day for five weeks”, Catherine went to visit Jake for the weekend and the rest, as they say, is history.
“Now we live together with the dog,” she added.
Maybe love is blind after all…
