Sad news to report today as it has been confirmed that Gogglebox star Andy Michael has sadly passed away at the age of 61.
Channel 4 confirmed the news sharing a statement on behalf of his family. It read, "We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Gogglebox star Andy Michael at the age of 61 following a short illness."
The statement continued: "Andy passed away last weekend with his family by his side.
"Retired hotelier Andy, who brought much wit and insight to Gogglebox, was one of the show’s original cast members, appearing in the very first episode in 2013.
"Beloved father to Katy, Alex, Pascal and Louis, and cherished husband of Carolyne, Andy was a much-loved and respected member of the Gogglebox family, and he will be very sadly missed.
"Our love and thoughts are with Carolyne and the entire family. The family have asked for privacy at this very sad time."
Fans were quick to pay tribute to Andy on social media, with one writing, "Christ! That's awful news. So young! Big love to all the family. Such a sad, sad loss ❤️❤️❤️ x."
Another added, "So young. Heartbroken for his family. Rest in peace Andy," while a third commented, "Oh my goodness, what is happening. RIP🤍."
One more said, "So sad, seemed like such a smart guy ❤️."

The heartbreaking news comes just days after another Gogglebox star, Mary Cook, passed away at the age of 92. She had been a regular on the series since 2016, making comments from the retirement village where she lived with her best friend Marina Wingrove.
Mary's Gogglebox co-stars were quick send tributes to the icon with Sophie Sandiford saying, "Rest in peace Mary." Izzi Warner added, "Such sad news, thoughts are with Mary’s family and loved ones at this time ❤️😢."
