It's not the only film to be announced...

Macaulay Culkin

Over recent years, Disney fans have been able to enjoy multiple live-action remakes of their classic animations, such as Aladdin and most recently The Lion King. And now, Disney has announced the very exciting news that they'll be remaking classic films Home Alone, Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By the Dozen.

Revealing the exciting news, Disney's chief executive Bob Iger described the new films as "reimaginations" explaining that they would feature on Disney's new streaming service, Disney+, which is set to be launched later this year in the US and next year here in the UK.

It is not clear exactly how the films will be reimagined, and despite no further information being released about the new films, fans are conflicted. Twitter has been flooded with that iconic scene of Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone, when he puts on his dad's aftershave.

And whilst some fans are excited about the news saying, 'My favourite movie xxx', others aren't so sure about the news commenting, 'It's not the same without Macaulay Culkin.'

Of course, Home Alone has become an iconic film since its release in 1990, and just last year, the star of the film, now 38-years-old, recreated some of the film's iconic scenes. In the short advert, 'Kevin' can be seen realising he is home alone, but the scenes are brought into the present day with the help of Google Assistant. Take a look below...

This year has been a phenomenal one for Disney, who have recently broken a box office record. Speaking to investors, Bob Iger told them, "So far this year we've released five of the top six movies.

"Including four which have generated more than a billion dollars in global box office."

Bob went on to explain, now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox, "We're also focused on leveraging Fox's vast library of great titles to further enrich the content mix on our ... platforms."

Disney+ is expected to have 7,500 episodes of TV and 400 movies when it launches.
