Jeremy Kyle is reportedly planning a big return to our screens for the first time since his show was axed following the tragic death of one of his guests.
ITV made the decision to cancel The Jeremy Kyle Show back in May, when Steve Dymond sadly died after failing a lie detector test on the show.
Jeremy hasn’t been seen on-screen since then but new reports claim that ITV bosses are working hard to come up with a new format for the TV host, with a possible prime time slot on the cards.
“Jeremy is a huge ratings draw and he has a great relationship with ITV, who are very keen to bring him back,” a source told The Sun on Sunday.
“So it was only a matter of time. An ITV team have been told ‘find a format for Jeremy’ and that is what they are working hard to do.
The source continued, “As you would expect, chat show formats are being considered, but others are too.
“And it is not a given that his return will be to daytime TV.”
It's thought that Jeremy will meet with ITV to discuss ideas in September and could be back on TV ‘early next year’.
The Jeremy Kyle Show aired on ITV for 14 years before it was axed.
ITV’s chief executive Carolyn McCall confirmed the cancellation back in May, issuing the following statement,“Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show.
“The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.
“Everyone at ITV's thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond.”
Issuing his own statement, Jeremy added that he was ‘utterly devastated’.

After Steve Dymond died shortly after filming, an ITV spokesperson issued a statement saying: "Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends."

Bosses at ITV confirmed that filming and broadcasting were suspended "with immediate effect" as that day's edition of the show was replaced at short notice with a repeat episode of Dickinson's Real Deal.
