Over the past eight seasons, Below Deck has introduced us to some colourful characters like Captain Lee Rosback, first officer Eddie Lucas and chef Ben Robinson and while most of them have starred on the show for multiple series, there are some cast members like Kat Held who only appeared for a short while.

Although she was only on our screens for the first two series of the show, OG crew member Kat made quite the impression on viewers before she quit at the end of the second season.

With Below Deck set to return for a ninth season very soon, we thought we’d take a look back to find out what Kat is up to these days…

Who is Kat Held?

Kat Held rose to fame as a crew member on the first ever series of reality show Below Deck, where she was the second stewardess aboard Honor. Prior to her reality debut, Kat had been travelling as a yacht stewardess for five years.

After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, she became interested in the travel industry after watching megaboats sail in and out of Newport Harbor. This led her to her first job as a yacht stewardess in Miami, Florida.

How old is Kat from Below Deck?

Kat was born on 21 June 1984, so she’s currently 37 years old.

Where is Kat Held from?

Kat is originally from Rhode Island, USA. She lived there for most of her life before discovering her passion for travel.

Why did Kat quit Below Deck?

Kat always brought the drama to Below Deck and became on of the most memorable crew members thanks to her wild behaviour when the cast were "off-charter" and allowed to enjoy a few drinks in the evening.

After appearing on the first two series of Below Deck, Kat decided she couldn't keep up with yachtie lifestyle when she turned 30 and therefore quit the show.

Where can we watch Below Deck?

Below Deck is shown on Bravo TV, which you can get on Amazon Firestick devices. You can also watch the series on Apple TV and subscription service Hayu has all seven seasons ready for your viewing pleasure.

What happened between Below Deck's Adrienne Gang and Kat Held?

It's safe to say Kat had quite the rocky relationship with chief stewardess Adrienne when they worked together during the first season of the show and the animosity between them even rumbled on when the former chief stew made a guest appearance on season two.

However, after the show the two actually became friends when they worked together on another charter.

Adrienne told The Daily Dish, "[Kat] actually ended up working for me for quite a while after [Below Deck]," Adrienne told The Daily Dish. "I hired her to work for me for an entire season. We actually went up to Newport, where she’s from, so we got to hang out with her family and meet everybody."

Sadly though, their truce didn't last long and they fell out again when Kat questioned Adrienne's sexuality during a chat show appearance. "And so, we are not friends," Adrienne scathingly added.

Was Kat involved in a drugs scandal?

In season one of the show, the entire crew quit after Kat found drugs in a stateroom. Executive producer Mark Cronin told CheatSheetthe cast was already suspicious of producers and thought the drugs were a plant.

“So they were looking at us like, ‘Well, what is this? Are you setting us up?” he recounted. “Are these guests coming on here to make our lives difficult on purpose? And are you like to what extent are you messing with us?’”

“I would always say we’re not messing with you,” he added. “We are not messing with you. These are charter guests. They’re paying. If their check cleared the bank, they’re coming on the show. I don’t do anything with them. I don’t prepare them or anything.”

“And they’d be like, ‘Yeah ok. But I bet this is a setup,’” he continued. “And then when Johnny Eyelash came on, it was OK, everything was going OK until they found the drugs. And then the cast was like, ‘Oh, it is a setup, and these guys don’t know how serious what they’ve just done to us is. Meaning us. Meaning the TV show.”
