The sixth series of Line of Duty has seen Trainspotting actress Kelly Macdonald join the cast as Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, who unusual methods at attempting to solve the murder of journalist Gail Vella have raised suspicion over at AC-12, with Detective Inspector Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) trying to uncover her wrongdoing.
Speaking last year, Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio said, "We’re honoured that Kelly Macdonald will join Martin, Vicky and Adrian in series six of Line of Duty. DCI Joanne Davidson will prove the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 have ever faced."
