The first-ever series of Love is Blind UK definitely delivered in the drama stakes, didn’t it? From that Nicole Stevens, Sam Klein and Benaiah Grunewald Brydie love triangle to Sabrina Egerton and Steven Smith’s shock split and, of course, Freddie Powell and Catherine Richards’ explosive wedding day, it kicked off left, right and centre.
But one couple who, for the most part, stayed out of the dramz was Jasmine and Bobby Johnson. Her mum threw a little bit of a spanner in the works, but it was never really in doubt that they were going to say “I do” and they’re still together a year later.
So, what’s the secret to making their relationship work? Well, if their latest comments are anything to go by, it seems that focusing on themselves and not getting involved with the other couples and their drama definitely helped.
Speaking exclusively to heatworld ahead of their first wedding anniversary, Jasmine and Bobby admitted that they “didn’t hang out” with the rest of the couples as they wanted to spend all their time together and work on getting to know each other.
And clearly, it was the right move.
“In the apartments, we kept to ourselves. We didn't have any outside noises. We didn't hang out with all the other couples, so we were focused on us and I think that really helped us,” Jasmine explained.
Bobby added, “We're kind of advised, as you go through the experiment, to keep yourself to yourself because it's important that you don't let outside noise get in your way and hold you back. I think we were very cautious of that.
“I don't think there was any couple in particular that we were avoiding being around, just as a whole. We don't really know what your journey is and everyone's on their own journey, we were very happy with how our journey was going and that's what we wanted to focus on.”
He continued, “I think if you are sort of integrating too much during the process then it probably could be easy to sort of sway a little bit or maybe take on board things that aren't even your experiences or your opinion.”
Now that they’ve been married for almost a year, Jasmine and Bobby have been open about their plans to start a family and it sounds like something big is in the works for their anniversary too.
Bobby teased, “I think that’s the next step, to expand our family, isn't it? That’s something that we're working on, hopefully as of next year. But first of all, we've got to, we've got to celebrate our anniversary, next month. That's the next thing on the agenda and then after that, we can really start looking at building a family.”
