We're all familiar with the oh-so-slick Love Island promo shoots with PrettyLittleThing-clad contestants and fancy pool float props, aren't we? With the show basically consuming 98.5% of our brain power for eight weeks, you could argue we're more familiar with the Islanders than we are our own actual families. But remember when the contestants' promo shots weren't quite so... polished?
Yep - allow us to take you back to 2005. Celebrity Love Island's about to hit our screens and a whole host of famous (ish) faces are ready to get frisky over in Fiji. Now, as scary as it is to admit, 2005 was SEVENTEEN years ago; and it's safe to say the OG promo hasn't aged too well.
Wanna see the likes of Calum Best, ex-footballer-fella Lee Sharpe and Liz McClarnon off of Atomic Kitten serving absolute peak noughties in front of a questionable beach-themed backdrop? OF COURSE YOU DO.

Lee Sharpe
Bet you a tenner that 'cocktail' is actually a criminally-weak Vimto.
Fran Cosgrave
Ah, the curly straw. A holiday classic.
Lady Isabella Hervey
Act natural, Lady Isabella Hervey. Act natural.
Abi Titmuss
Totally ready for the straw hat to make a comeback, tbh.
Paul Danan
Three-quarter-length trousers. A 2005 staple.
Calum Best
Fun fact: Calum was actually on the beach for the picture. Yep. Definitely. Ahem.
Judy Shekoni
Absolutely no expense spared on the flower garland.
Michael Greco
IT'S BLOODY BEPPE FROM EASTENDERS.
Liz McClarnon
Pretty sure we saw that shirt in Urban Outfitters last week for about £60...
Rebecca Loos
This is of absolutely no relevance, but remember when she tossed off a pig on The Farm? Classic.
Jayne Middlemiss
Oh we love you too, Jayne. If only for providing all the nostalgic Love Island lols.
Du'aine Ladejo
They've definitely recycled this pose for more recent series...

Following the rogue AF celebrity series in 2005 and 2006, Love Island was dropped from our screens but made a MAJOR comeback in 2015 when it was revived by ITV and ditched the rich and famous for regular people.
Since then it's safe to say it's become the biggest show on the 'box, with alumni going on to become leaders in the influencer and reality TV worlds. We were all GUTTED in 2020 when bosses were forced to cancel the summer season because of the pandemic (but hey, at least we got the winter version in South Africa - small mercies).
Luckily Love Island has since returned as if nothing ever happened.
