Coronavirus might have disrupted our TV schedules - but we’re still holding out hope that Love Island will happen at some point this summer. Following speculation about where the latest series is going to take place, there are now new reports that contestants will be tested for coronavirus if the show goes ahead this year.

‘Producers are optimistic the series could go ahead, but they don’t want to take any risks with coronavirus spreading on set so are looking at testing contestants in advance,’ a source told The Sun.

But the insider continued, saying that producers have ruled out the idea of hosting the series in the UK. ‘Talk of hosting the show in the UK has been vetoed. There would be nothing more depressing than seeing lovers huddled under blankets and umbrellas and stomping around in wellies.’ (Sob.)

And we could be seeing Love Island on our screens quite soon, as the source added: ‘But if lockdown restrictions are lifted soon crew will work towards an August or September start date.’

We have contacted a Love Island spokesperson for comment.

Last week, there were reports that the series could be held in the UK - along with I'm A Celebrity. In fact, Paddy Power even had bets on where the UK villa locations could be - with London coming in at 2/1. The Isle of Man was second in the running, with odds of 4/1. And other possible locations included the Isle of Wight and the Scottish Highlands.
