’90s fave Rugrats is back – but there’s a rather TERRIFYING twist 🤯

We cannot unsee this.

Rugrats returns with original voice actors in CGI remake

Here at heatworld, we bloody love a '90s revival. Steps? Totally going to their next tour. Anything Tracy Beaker-related? Still obsessed. Those delicious Cadbury Dream chocolate bars? WE WON'T REST TILL THEY'RE BACK ON SUPERMARKET SHELVES.

So obviously the news that Rugrats - our absolute favourite cartoon from back in the day - is set for a reboot has us dusting off our Cynthia doll in excitement.

Except...there's one major difference. Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and co. have been given a 2021 CGI makeover; and it's WEIRD.

In news set to divide the actual entire globe, Paramount+ has launched a first look of the show's reboot; which features some of the original voice actors (yay) and some, um, interesting animation.

Now look, we're not totally opposed to the prospect of Phil and Lil DeVille in 3D. We just weren't mentally prepared for the change, that's all.

Richest MAFS Australia stars revealed - and they're RAKING it in

Social media inevitably had a lot to say on the Rugrats revival, with one Twitter user asking, "Can they just keep cartoons 2D? Does that make me selfish?"

Another user, however, reasoned, "I'm guessing they want to appeal to the people that grew up with this show and now have kids of their own."

The jury's out, folks.
