We'd be lying to you if we didn't still know every single word from Frank Gallagher's opening speech during the credits of the first series of Shameless UK, and we're very proud of this fact.

Shameless was, hands down, one of the best TV shows of the noughties - and we still while away many a hungover Sunday watching old episodes of the series online.

But what are the likes of Debbie, Ian, Lip and Frank up to in 2020? We'll tell ya. Here's what the Shameless cast are up to these days...

The main and most iconic Shameless character, Frank is the only one in the series from the start right up until the final episode.

David has since starred alongside Jude Law in film Black Sea. He's also accumulated many theatre credits - notably performing for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

'Sent by God, total angel' Debbie Gallagher was a main character from season one right the way through to season six, after which she left to inexplicably join the army.

'Alot like his mum' Ian Gallagher was in the show from the start till series 7, and was involved in several major storylines - such as his affair with Cash in the first season.

Since leaving the show, Gerard has starred in a number of short films as well as some major TV roles. This year he stars as Tommy Marshall in Netflix's The English Game and as Halig on Amazon Prime's The Last Kingdom.

Mandy was the only daughter of the criminal Maguire family, and had a baby with Lip before her death in season six.

Veronica was the Gallagher's neighbour that would 'lend you anything (well not anything)'. She starred in the show from the start until series 4.

'Big help, massive help' Fiona was the sensible eldest sibling of the Gallagher family, who appeared in the show from the start until series 2. She also appeared in the final episode.

Since leaving Shameless, Anne-Marie earned BAFTA nominations for her roles in The Virgin Queen, Nowhere Boy and Suffragette. Most recently she's starred in His Dark Materials, Sex Education and the BBC drama The Salisbury Poisonings.While on the show, she got together with her on screen boyfriend James Mcavoy, and they had a son in 2010. They announced their amicable divorce in 2016.

Steve was the car thief boyfriend of Fiona, who featured in the show from the start through to series 2.

Since leaving the show, James has had a very successful film career - he has most notably starred in the X-Men series. He also appeared in The Chronicles Of Narnia as the faun Mr Tumnus, and The Last King Of Scotland.

We think that Shameless was quintessentially British TV viewing - full of bad behaviour, bad language, and a few too many pints of lager.

That's right, while we had to say a sad farewell to the BBC gem in 2013, America has been enjoying the fruits of UK creative labour ever since... but we're not convinced.

Like The Office and Love Island USA (shudder), we're not quite sure that our famous UK humour translates to American audiences, and the scripts and acting is a completely different beast.

We'll be sticking to watching old series' on iPlayer, thanks.
