If you’re a The Traitors fan – and who isn’t? – then you’ll probably have spent a lot of time speculating and theorising about the show over the past few weeks.
We know that Charlotte Berman has been lying about being Welsh, but viewers have guessed that Francesca Rowan-Plowden is Freddie Fraser’s mum (spoiler alert: she’s not) and that Joe Scott and Dan Bird are in a relationship (again, very much not true).
There’s also been lots of talk about that breakfast theory and, most recently, television presenter and rumoured Celebrity Traitors contestant Richard Osman pointed out a ‘flaw’ in the game.
According to Richard, who was speaking on his podcast The Rest is Entertainment, the format of The Traitors 'doesn't really work' as the Traitors are always in a more powerful position than the Faithfuls as they're able to recruit if any Traitors get banished.
'Three Traitors, then what if they get voted out immediately? Well if they get voted out, you just put new Traitors in. So actually the early weeks of it are meaningless, because they’re just going to get replaced,' he explained.
'If you get a Traitor out on week one, you might as well not. Because they’re immediately going to get replaced. You might as well for the first few weeks just get rid of people who annoy you.'
We recently caught up with The Traitors series two legend Paul Gorton, who had his say on Richard's theory and admitted he 'totally agrees'.
Sharing his advice on how to play the game, Paul said, 'Play however you want, folks, but the point of The Traitors is not finding Traitors.
'The best thing you can do as a faithful is find them, but don't tell anyone that you found them. If I know someone's a Traitor, I'm going to sense it and I'm going to go and be best mates with them and I'm going to go and build strong bonds with people so I don't get voted out.'
Speaking about all of the fan theories about the show, Paul continued, 'There's a few people that had so many theories. There was one about the last people in a breakfast, which is flawed because there's 12 days of filming, at every point there's always going to be two or three people that come back and two or three of them will be Traitors.
It's almost impossible to find Traitors based on that theory, because it's a different two or three every time.'
Paul was speaking to heatworld on behalf of Heart Bingo. The Traitors continues on BBC One this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
