Former Gogglebox star Tom Malone Jnr has finally spoken out to address claims he's dating Strictly 2019 contestant and YouTuber Saffron Barker.
The pair were first linked in December when they shared a cosy-looking snap of their matching fancy dress outfits as Danny and Sandy from Grease at Saffron's New Year's Eve party. It later came to light that Tom had split from his girlfriend Bryony Briscoe months earlier, which only fuelled the rumours.
Tom and Saffron have, until now, maintained their silence on their rumoured relationship but the pair finally chatted about the speculation on the latest episode of Sex, Lies and DM Slides, the podcast that Saffron hosts with her best friend Anastasia Kingsnorth.
Explaining how the matching outfits came about, Saffron explained, "The theme of my New Year’s Eve Party was come as the first letter of your name, so immediately I was like, ‘I’m going to be Sandy from Grease’. Then I was like, ‘I really want a Danny, but there’s going to be no Ds there so what am I going to do?’
“Then I figured T-Bird, so I literally just voicenoted Tom and was like, ‘Is there any way you can be my Danny and come as a T-Bird?’ and so he did.”
She then confirmed she and Tom are NOT dating as she added, "That’s how that came about but it did look like a couples’ outfit so everyone thought we were together, but we’re not.”
Is it just us that are kinda devastated?
Tom admitted the rumours linking him and Saffron had been "awkward" as he hadn't publicly announced his split from Bryony.
He said, "There was a lot of awkward messages because I hadn’t announced I was single.
"I had been in a relationship that had ended quite a while before that but I [hadn’t spoke about it online].”
Tom and Bryony ended their two year relationship last year and unfollowed each other on Instagram as well as deleting all traces of their relationship from their profiles.
Bryony also confirmed she was no longer dating Tom last month while taking part in a Q&A with her followers when one asked, "Are you single? x."
She responded, "In a committed relationship with myself 🫶."
We're here for the self love tbh.
Tom and Bryony dated for two years and even moved into a Leeds apartment together but, following their split, there was been plenty of speculation that he's now dating Saffron.
Of course we now know they're just friends. And, if you're wondering how the unlikely pair met each other, it turns out they met back in 2021 while filming E4 show The Real Dirty Dancing.
