The Voice UK is finally back on our telly boxes this weekend, and this time it's going against brand-spankin-new BBC talent show The Greatest Dancer. Now obviously, in typical The X Factor versus Strictly Come Dancing fashion, everyone's on about the latest Saturday night ratings war; not least because it involves Cheryl and her pal will.i.am.
Friends and former collaborators (3 Words was an underrated BANGER, no?) Cheryl and Will are going head-to-head with their shows in the same prime time slot; and will.i.am's addressed talk of 'rivalry' between himself and Chezza following rumours of a fall-out.
Asked if he's spoken to Cheryl ahead of their shows airing at The Voice UK launch, will.i.am said: "Yeah, of course. Instagram is really cool, because you can just see the good parts on their feed."
Whether or not that means they've actually spoken or he's just aware she's doing it, we're not quite sure.
Cheryl - who has a wealth of dance experience - was first persuaded to launch a solo career outside of Girls Aloud after she auditioned for a cameo in will.i.am's Heartbreaker music video as part of ITV2 show The Passions of Girls Aloud back in 2008.
"Yeah, that was the first conversation," said Will. "I was like ‘you know you’d be dope solo?’ She’s awesome."
That's put any reports of beef between the pair to bed, then.
Asked if he has any advice for Cheryl in her new role as The Greatest Dancer judge, Will said: "I remember when we first did The Voice, we were up against Strictly Come Dancing and we had the wrong slot. Then they put us in the right slot and – boom – we grew.
"I think just weather it, and I hope that they stick with it because I care about Cheryl. She’s like family to me. If it’s a one-time thing, that’s cool; if it’s long haul just stick with it and fight for an awesome slot."
So does this mean we're gonna get, like, new music from them?
"Yeah, I’d love to do that," he said.
In the meantime, let's remember how brilliant this song is.
The Voice UK airs at 8pm this Saturday January 5th on ITV.
