Lots of men are upping their skincare game. YAS, finally! Moisturisers are like medicine for the skin. They have lots of different benefits, like preventing dry skin and slowing down the effects of ageing. It’s important to remember that this isn’t going to transform anyone into a model – we wish. What it will do, though, is leave skin feeling smoother and more hydrated.

For those who don’t know, moisturiser is used to lubricate the skin. Get your mind out of the gutter, I know what you’re probably thinking 😳. But this is serious, lots of people have dry patches and need a moisturiser to make sure their skin is hydrated properly.

With more skincare products hitting the market (especially for men), it can be difficult to know which products will help. Don’t sweat it, that’s why we’ve spent the last month trying and testing the very best men’s moisturisers for every type of skin.

Bulldog Original Moisturiser for Men1 of 11

Bulldog Original Moisturiser for Men

For a budget-friendly skincare regime, you can't go wrong with the Bulldog Original. When applying to your face, it feels light and dries very quickly, but it gets the job done. The only con we have for this is it can leave your skin looking a little greasy.

Antipodes Vanilla Pod2 of 11

Antipodes Vanilla Pod

If you're not a big fan of smelly creams, this is the moisturiser for you. It has a neutral scent and you won't smell it every time the wind wafts by you. The only downside is that it left the skin feeling a little greasy by the end of the day. This would work better on dryer skin types, which would benefit from the extra lubrication. ud83dudca6

Clockface Beauty Elemi & Black Pepper Face Scrub

OK, so not quite a moisturiser, but guys like to be pampered too. And, this face scrub has a REAL spa experience about it – treat yo' self. It smells like you've stepped out of a spa, even a few hours after applying. It's easy to get out of the pot and you'll only need a few dabs across your whole face. I wouldn't recommend using every day, but two or three times a week will help make your skin feel silkier and brighter.

Gnarly Joe Anti-Ageing Moisturiser for Men

The cool packaging first caught our eye - this fun moisturiser will look banging in your bathroom. The best way to apply this is after washing your face. Push half a pump into your hands and rub the palms together, before gently rubbing into your skin. The biggest plus is that the hydration lasts all day, no really!

Hawkins & Brimble Mens Daily Energising Moisturiser11 of 11

Hawkins & Brimble Mens Daily Energising Moisturiser

We loved the Hawkins & Brimble range so much, we had to feature another from their range. One of our favourite things about this product is the smell. The mixture of Avena Sativa Kernel Oil, oatmeal extract and ginseng smells fresh and subtle. It literally lasts all day and left the skin feeling a lot softer than some other moisturisers.

What type of moisturiser do you need?

As you'll know by now, there isn't just one type of moisturiser for men.

An oil-free moisturiser will hydrate oily skin without clogging your pores, so this would be a great option for someone who's prone to breakouts. If your skin is dull, opt for a formula that has caffeine in it to give your skin a morning lift.

Is your skin red and irritated? Look for a cream that has retinol in it to reduce inflammation and hydrate the skin. Sensitive skin? Try to avoid harsh chemicals or fragrances by going natural and organic. And as always, finding a men's moisturiser with SPF is the key to protecting your skin from those pesky UV rays.
