Since Oral B unveiled their newest offering which promises to 'completely reimagine' the standard toothbrush, we were all ears.

The ultra-chic toothbrush wouldn't look out of place in a sci-fi film and has been dominating our Instagram feeds, thanks to the influencer lot and the cast of Made In Chelsea.

But there is a catch: the futuristic toothbrush has an eye-watering RRP of £500 which made us promptly choke on our Nesquik.

Thanks to the teeth gods, it's now available on Amazon for half the price. Here's what happened when we tested out the Oral B iO...

The product:

Oral B is known worldwide for being the brand 'used by dentists' and the Oral iO truly is a work of art. The sleek toothbrush promises a clean that lasts all day, thanks to its frictionless magnetic drive. Essentially instead of a motorised cog system, it uses magnets, which is pretty cool.

It syncs up with an app which helps you brush up on your er, brushing skills and promises a six times more plaque removal along the gum line and noticeably whiter teeth in just one week. Phew.

The new toothbrush has a staggering RRP of £500 but one week after going on sale, was reduced to a more purse-friendly £250.

Even owner of mega-watt smile, Louise Thompson is a fan.

Cool features:

• It has a zillion cleaning modes including sensitive, deep clean and whitening. It also greets you when you're nearby with a friendly message.

• The Smart Pressure Sensor guides you to apply optimal cleaning pressure with handy green and red lights.

•The toothbrush fully charges in just three hours. Blimey.

•When synced with the app, it guides you to brush the areas of the mouth you've missed, encouraging you to get a perfect score of 100%. Us competitive? Never.

•It has a timer which will only display a smiley face if you've brushed for the dentist-recommended two minutes. There is nothing more heartbreaking than the sad face displaying on your toothbrush. Nothing.

Our verdict:

Oral B

It will be the best toothbrush you'll have used in your whole life, hands down. Thanks to its magnetic micro-vibrations, every clean feels like you've visited an IRL dentist.

The timer is really handy to ensure you're brushing for the whole two minutes (no cheating or else you're shown a sad face!) and we love the clever light system to help you nail the correct pressure.

Pretty impressive stuff.

It makes brushing teeth a highlight (no, really) and if you're a hardcore brusher or need some encouragement, this toothbrush was made for you.

But is it worth £500? Er, unless said toothbrush can make your bed and serve avo toast for breakfast, then it's simply way too much to spend, in our opinion.

However, £250 is a price that feels way more deserving. The gadget will last you years, look sleek AF in your bathroom and think about that price per brush, people!

“There is nothing like Oral-B iO. It introduces a new era in brushing and is a monumental leap in innovative oral care technology,” said Steve Bishop, P&G Health Care CEO.

“The result of years of expert development, Oral-B iO strikes the right balance between effectiveness and experience and reimagines how a brush performs, cleans and feels. It is a brush that people will look forward to using and will deliver superior oral health.”
