Self-care will forever be our favourite hobby but we appreciate that recharging and putting yourself first looks different for everyone. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their ideal self-care Sunday routines, the hard-working beauty products they recommend to their friends and which TV show they're currently binging…

This week it's all about Rochelle Anthony, The Apprentice series 17 runner-up who calls herself the 'Kim Kardashian of the business world' for doing business with a 'hint of glam'. Our kinda girl, tbh.

The telly personality is proud owner of The Dollshouse Salon in Milton Keynes and even previously appeared on MTV's Geordie Shore The OG's as Marnie Simpson's friend and hairstylist.

Rochelle chats The Apprentice filming secrets, wholesome self-care routines and really great advice...

On filming secrets

From spelling mistakes to cringe-worthy pitches, contestants competing in weekly tasks is often both hilarious and bemusing. But Rochelle shares how the reality of appearing on The Apprentice is a lot harder than viewers at home might realise.

"I've watched the show before and screamed at the TV and just said, 'Oh my god, these idiots!' And I legit thought I could do it better. I got on the process and I was so shocked at the time constraint and how quickly you can fall off the hill when you're under pressure and not given the resources you normally have, like we don't have access to the internet.

"You could have come up with an amazing concept and amazing name, but another company somewhere that you've never heard of has a similar brand and it can't get by Legal. So you have to just rubbish everything and you might have spent 45 minutes coming up with that branding.

"And then they say, 'I'm really sorry, it hasn't passed Legal and you have five minutes to recreate something out of nothing. It keeps you on your feet. You're working with people you've never worked with before and everyone in that process has the same goal. They want to win. So you have to work with your competition and have to collaborate. I think that's a really tricky thing to navigate. But I think that's what I did, I think I worked really well with my peers. I didn't see them as rivals until the very end."

On getting ready on The Apprentice

Do the contestants really only get 20 minutes in the morning to get ready?

"It really was 20 minutes! And again it's that car crash TV because you have such little time to make yourself presentable, but you know this is going to be shown for generations to come on TV.

"So, no matter what time I got in, I always had everything ironed and ready in terms of my outfits. That cut out a massive part of it.

"Then make-up, I'm so good now at just getting the base on and adding to it. I also think it's all about products. I'm such a product junkie so I knew that if the night before I did my skincare routine, the next day if my make-up was flaking a bit by the end of the day then I would spritz a bit of hyaluronic acid to refresh everything. So it was knowing my skin tone, knowing that I had good colour matches and knowing the products that worked for me."

On make-up for filming

Which products did Rochelle rely on for filming The Apprentice?

"Honestly, by the end of the filming, it was hilarious because you could see the make-up start to crumble! But I love Huda Beauty's Baking Powder, which just sets your make-up in place but doesn't sit in your wrinkles or pores and has no flashback. So when you're filming it's such a good product to use.

"Also, lipstick, I use matte lipstick because it does stay in place all day. I use the Sleek Lipstick in Birthday Suit which is such a bargain and stays in place all day. You could drink, you could eat and it would stay so I didn't have to reapply or touch-up make-up. It's a fail-safe, it's so good."

"I also love MAC make-up as it's so buildable and I love the Estée Lauder Double Wear. That doesn't go anywhere either. But my base was always Weleda Skin Food. Because when you put Weleda Skin Food under Estée Lauder or powder you never end up cakey because you've got such a dewy base, to begin with.

Did Rochelle learn any beauty tricks from any of the other girls whilst filming the show?

"Victoria [Goulbourne] and I ended up sharing a room towards the end of the process and we were always mixing and sharing make-up and hair tools. She introduced me to a brow wax and shows me how to get that big fluffy brow. She used the REFY one and I was using the Got2B Glued one but it didn't get my brows in place for long enough. We were always swapping beauty tips."

On self-care Sundays

What does the ultimate relaxing Sunday look like for Rochelle?

"On a Sunday I love to cook, the kitchen is my safe haven. I actually find it really de-stresing and relaxing. I'll light a candle, I'll pour a glass of jammy red wine and I'll start prepping the veg, but I will have a face mask on or an oil mask in my hair. I'll prep everything and get the food in the oven ready to go. Then I'll go and run a bath and I'll pay my meditation music, have a bit of a meditation, do my manifestation and chill out. Do my hair, blow dry and by the time I come back down, take the mask off there's dinner ready to go. It's such a nice little day for me to just do what I need to do. I just love cooking and getting the family fed. I find it very therapeutic."

On skincare

"I love skincare and do get complimented all the time because I think being on the other side of 35 and nearing 40, I never really focused on my skin, but in lockdown, I was suddenly like, 'this is so important' because prevention is always better than cure.

"I love Kylie Skin. The packaging is stunning but also the products are really, really good. I love Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant as well, that's my staple every night. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury Night Cream which is the best ever. I think it's all about hydration and that's why my skin doesn't look wrinkly or haggard because I've focused on making sure that at nighttime I'm making sure everything is resurfaced and restored for the next day."

On daily wellness habits

"On the way to work, I always try and play either one of my favourite uplifting songs or listen to an uplifting podcast. It just sets up my mood and my mindset for the day and I will speak my affirmations into the world. So it's, 'Today's gonna be a great day, I am amazing, I am determined, I am powerful.' I even did that in the house [on The Apprentice].

"It's so easy to fall into a negative headspace if you've lost a task. So I always try and bring up the others and say, 'Look, it's not a bad life, it's a bad day. Put it in the past, move on from it, deal with the feelings and emotions and what you can from it to take on to the next task as a lesson.'

"I was a bit of an agony aunt in there and a bit of a mum looking after them all. But I think it's really important to speak positivity out there and into the world."

On bedtime rituals

"I have Yorkshire Bed Time tea and it's got vanilla and nutmeg in it before bed. I normally do my skincare routine, take all my make-up off and then put my hair up because I have extensions, I do a plait or a bun. I then try and go through my list, I'm such a list girl.

"In my notes, I've got all the things that I should have done and I try and get things ready. So if I haven't done it, I'm like, 'Right, that's on my list for tomorrow.' If not, I can't sleep, it's impossible to switch off my mind. But if I know it's on tomorrow's list then it's okay. It's going to be dealt with. Then I do my meditation and I go to sleep. I listen to a guided meditation on the Calm app and it puts me right to sleep."

On great advice

"I did Reece Donnelly's podcast the other day and he said on there that everything in life is either a blessing or a lesson. I thought it was really good important advice because I like to deal with my feelings and acknowledge how I feel, but also process it and move on. I think that's so good because we can get a message from anything, whether it be a relationship, job, school, or friendship you can either call it a blessing or you can learn from it and move on. You can know that you'll never be in that position again because you've learned from it. Or you can say, 'Right, it may not have gone the way I wanted it to, but I still had a blessing to have even gotten there.'"
