We love a bit of self-care and all this time at home has really given us an excuse to look after ourselves inside and out. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their Sunday self-care routines, because taking care of yourself is more important than ever.
This week it's all about Shannon Singh, the Love Islander who appeared on screen just 24 hours before she was dumped in a cruel twist. With all that main character energy, we were truly robbed. However, despite the lack of air time, Shannon is continuing to deliver the #content we all need. From her hilarious snubbing of theLove Island reunion afterparty to very importantly talking about Asian representation on tv, we are excited to see where she goes next.
Shannon is working with Boux Avenueon the incredible campaign, 'My Body, My Rules' which celebrates individuality and body confidence. We absolutely love to see it.
Shannon chats exclusively to heat about crystals, low maintenance beauty routines and her £2 hack for dewy skin...
On self-care
"I think self-care to me is associated with health. First of all, if I have a day off, I'll have a long lie-in. I'll spend the whole day in my pyjamas if I have to! I always make a morning juice, my go-to green juice recipe is spinach, cucumber, ginger, lemon and apple. It's honestly delicious. Juices are so good for staying healthy. I also love having a bath, I love lighting a candle. I know everyone says it for self-care, but for females, a face mask, chick flick and a bath do you wonders."
"I try not to be on my phone too much on a self-care day, social media can be a toxic place where you compare yourself to other people with unattainable lifestyles. I'll sit and watch Netflix or listen to music. I know it sounds weird but cleaning also brings me a little bit of therapy. I'll really clean my room and make sure it's fresh, change my bed and then get my face mask on. I'm not going to lie, I also sometimes love a glass of red wine on an evening, too."
On skincare
"I love theLiz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser .Then I'll use the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliantto exfoliate my face. I always, always use Bio-Oil , a lot of people ask me what my skincare secret is and it's Bio-Oil. I use it every day, it helps scars and things like that. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream ,it's amazing."
"I also love the Garnier Moisture Bomb Sheet Masks , they are amazing. The trick with those is people only leave them for 10 minutes, I leave it on until it goes dry!"
On minimal beauty routines
"I'm honestly the most low-maintenance girl you'll ever come across. I get my nails done, I get a Pedi done, get my waxing done, but when it comes to facials and things like that, I get scared. I do have really nice clear skin and I really honestly don't do that much. I usually wake up, moisturise, curl my lashes and put a little bit of lip balm on. If my skin is looking a bit dull then I'll put on a little bit of cream blush, but that's about it. Even getting my hair done, I get my hair done like once a year."
"I used to be a make-up artist and I worked at MAC Cosmetics, I did make-up at college. I feel like you can put too much product on your face and I think it makes your skin look worse. I try to be as minimalistic as possible, If I was to give tips, it would be to have a really great cleanser, but don't overuse it and invest in a really good moisturiser."
On crystals
"I've got crystals and have really got into them recently. My best friend Ruby is really amazing and is my spiritual angel. She's into sound healing and full moon rituals... I just follow along and copy her!"
"I keep all my crystals on my side drawer, I've got a massive Amethyst, I've got rose quartz I've got orange serine I've got clear quartz... I've got my own little collection. I used to go to Ibiza around three times a year, because of Covid and things like that I haven't been this year, but I normally go to the hippy markets, there are so many amazing stalls."
On 'My Body My Rules'
Boux Avenue launched the Your Body, Your Rules campaign with Shannon Singh, Olivia Bowen, Christina (Carmela) Panebianco and Sophia Peschisolido, all leading the way on how to celebrate yourself, your individuality and feeling body confident.
"I think the campaign just stands for everything that I am. I wanted to show people that you can take ownership of your body. I think ITV heavily advertised me as a glamour model and in the VT they liked to put everything that was glamour-related. I think that made people have a perception of me before I went on the show. I think everyone got shocked and even though I was only in three episodes, that I turned down a kiss from Toby [Aromolaran] because I didn't really want to kiss him. People realised I wasn't this girl that just jumps on boys and gets her boobs out, misconceptions and judgements can be wrong."
"My Only Fans before the show was non-explicit, but not a lot of people know that. The papers picked up on a lot of stuff that I had done when I was 18 or 19 and hindsight is a great thing. I'm 23 now and would I have done those things? Probably not. I was young and naive and everything is a lesson. But they're not in control, I am and it's my body."
"My favourite piece from the collection is the Sasha set [pictured above], I just love black, I think black lingerie is so powerful. Especially with suspenders and a suspender belt."
