This season, your Instagram feed will be overflowing with women's Bermuda shorts, if it isn't already. I'll admit, I was a doubter at first, but the outfits below make a strong case for everyone to add a pair to their wardrobes. They’re perfect for the upcoming warm spring and summer days, but surprisingly versatile enough to wear in cooler weather as well.

The key to really making the trend work is in the styling (more on that later), but choosing the right length and silhouette is also crucial. Go for more fitted styles or 'mom' cuts if you’re into a higher-waisted look. Or, if you’re into that '00s low-rise vibe, size up and wear them slung low on your hips.

Once dismissed as unfashionable or too practical to be cool, Bermuda shorts have made a roaring return to the fashion circuit, this time with attitude and edge. Whether teamed with polished tailoring or dressed down for a relaxed vibe, they strike the perfect balance between comfort and confidence. And yes, they're the ideal throw-on piece for everything from seaside staycations to nipping down to the high-street.

If you're investing in your first pair of Bermuda shorts, we'd have to suggest a simple style in blue denim. This style from H&M is pretty much perfect in every way, effortlessly transitioning from casual to dressed-up looks. Look to Simone Ashley, who styled hers with a matching denim jacket and chunky loafers, or Charli XCX, who teamed hers with a cropped fur coat and slouchy boots. The shorts also look seriously chic paired with strappy sandals, as Daisy Edgar-Jones proved.

How are they being styled for SS25? Think: less surfer shorts, more sleek and sophisticated. The perfect summer city look - a pair of denim Bermudas pair effortlessly with a sharp blazer and a simple black, white, or navy tee. As for footwear? We say play with fashion's current love of silver trainers or cow print trainers.

Here, we've put together a few styling ideas for how to wear women's Bermuda shorts this summer.

Gingham top and raw edge jorts

We love a good gingham moment, and this top brings a soft contrast to the grungy feel of denim jorts. An oversized raffia tote pulls everything together with a cutesy summery finish.

We're loving the sports luxe look. Leather toughens up the Bermuda shorts fit, adding a sleek contrast to their boxy cut.

Pinstripe Bermuda shorts and a crisp white shirt

You'll get so much wear out of a pinstripe pair of Bermudas, they make every outfit ten times cooler. When it's too warm for full-on tailoring, a breathable white shirt with shorts instead of trousers is an alternative we can get on board with.
