How to recreate Princess Diana’s outfits on the high street (from The Crown Season 4)

Who says you can’t look like a Princess on a budget?

Princess Diana

Princess Diana has always been, and always will be, a national treasure- and our love for her was reignited when The Crown Season 4 finally rolled out November last year.

What a season it was- drama, intrigue, and everyone collectively booing Prince Charles off the screen (although the actor Josh O’Connor is so cute, we’ll forgive him). The season finished with the end of their marriage, so while we wait for the next season (hurry up Netflix!) and all the royal drama to come, let's distract ourselves by focusing on the gorgeous Diana wardrobe that was shown off during The Crown by actress Emma Corrin.

Diana was known as a fashion icon, and The Crown did a fantastic job of showcasing the culture-defining clothing that she wore. The Princess often expressed herself through her clothing (yes- we are all thinking of the revenge dress, we’ll have to wait until Season 5 for that) and so her clothes said a lot about her, and what a superstar she was.

And we at heat want you all to be superstars too! So, we’ve found the best outfits from The Crown Season 4 and recreated them using brands from the high street- so everyone can live out their Diana dreams.

Check out The Crown Season 4’s best Diana outfits, both casual and formal, and how to recreate them on a budget

1. Diana's New Zealand Ballet Outfit

For outfit number one, Diana's lovely little number (so casual) that she wore to the Coppelia Ballet at St. James Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. The lilac colour is just stunning, and we think The Crown, despite a different neckline, duped the dress pretty well. Let's see how we can recreate it...

4. Diana's Polka-dot Perth Outfit

The Crown nailed this next Diana outfit, which she wore during a visit to Perth, Australia. Pink really is her colour (although...she could rock any colour couldn't she? She could've probably rocked a bin bag on the red carpet). Anyway...

There are loads of cheap fascinators on the market, so its a breeze to find any shade to suit your choice of dress.

5. Diana's Dungaree Polo Outfit

Our favourite outfit from The Crown season 4 is when Emma Corrin, playing Diana, wears this replica from Diana's polo match in 1981. This was super fun to recreate, and something we would defo want in our wardrobe.

8. Diana's British Embassy in Paris Outfit

The Crown Season 4 went in quite a different direction to the original dress Diana wore for a state dinner at the British Embassy in Paris, but we're a fan of both looks. So, we've selected two dresses that represent each look...

Ghost Laurel Wedding Dress

Although we will never be able to fully recreate the majestic wedding dress that Diana wore (mainly because at the time it was estimated to have cost £9,000 to make), this stunning John Lewis wedding dress has the same regal, vintage style as the original. This is a total princess-worthy dress, and at a pretty good price when it comes to wedding expenditure, we would totally wear this!

And that's all of our Princess Diana, The Crown Season 4, outfits. Here they are all together:
