Inside Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s caravan of love

Watch out, Wales… the Rooneys are coming

She’s used to five-star accommodation and luxury holidays across the globe – and, as heat recently told you, is gearing up for an equally extravagant summer, with several no expense-spared holidays planned as soon as we’re allowed. So, needless to say, we were a tad taken aback last week, when it was revealed that before Coleen Rooney begins her whistle-stop tour of fancy resorts abroad, she’s planning a slightly more low-key staycay with husband Wayne and their four kids to, erm, a caravan park in windy Wales. It all seems a bit out of character, doesn’t it?

But guys, this is the Rooneys we’re talking about – their version of low-key is rather different to the rest of us. And while Coleen may be having to swap her usual holiday uniform of designer bikinis for layers and waterproofs, it’s pretty clear that the family will be getting every ounce of luxury they’re accustomed to.

Apparently, they are heading to The Warren resort in Abersoch, Gwynedd, which – at a cost of £5k-per-week – more than deserves its reputation as a “millionaire’s caravan park”. And while there are high-end caravans on site, it’s more than likely that Coleen and Wayne will be staying in one of their A-list chalets.

Add to that the resort’s five-star facilities, including three heated pools, a private beach, a spa and tanning rooms, tennis courts and extensive play areas for the kids, and it’s pretty clear that the family will still be holidaying in high style.

In February 2018 the Rooney family got even bigger as the happy couple welcomed their fourth child into the world - baby Cass!Yup. They broke their tradition with names beginning with 'K' but the little is adorable so who cares, ey?

“It’s essentially a step up from camping, with a gilded twist for the rich and famous,” said an insider close to Coleen and Wayne, who are parents to Kai, 11, Klay, eight, Kit, five, and three-year-old Cass.

The gilded twist is, of course, a major draw for Coleen, who – as we told you last week – has told friends she “won’t be lifting a finger” this summer and is “seriously on a mission to live it up”. She’s also no doubt hoping for some quality time with her husband, who as heat told you, has been something of a “grumpy bear” lately, due to the strain of his job as manager of ailing Derby County.

But we’re sure that she’s also feeling the nostalgic pull of revisiting the caravan parks of her childhood. The 35 year old has previously spoken about how much she used to love caravanning as a kid, revealing in her 2007 autobiography, “Some of my favourite [holidays] were those spent at our caravan in West Kirby, a coastal resort an hour or so from Liverpool. Dad had bought the caravan for a couple of hundred pounds. You couldn’t describe it as luxurious, but we did it up nicely, painting the outside turquoise and beige, and fixing it with new cushions and curtains that Mum had arranged to get made specially.”

Her summer of fun will continue with trips to Ibiza, Barbados, Portugal and the US all on the cards – restrictions pending. Send us a postcard if you get a chance, Col.
