Love Island star Hugo Hammond has quit social media after former The Apprentice contestant Lottie Lion accused him of “screaming in her face” after she rejected his romantic advances on a night out.
Lottie, who appeared on the BBC show in 2019, uploaded a TikTok earlier this week in which she explained she had been invited on a night out in Bristol with Hugo and his friends which turned sour when the 2021 Islander tried to kiss her multiple times.
She said, “I went to sit down and at this point we’d been together for about three or four hours. As we sat down, we were having a bit more of a laugh and he tries to kiss me, and despite the fact that we are getting along quite well, I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry but I’m just not really feeling that’.
“Initially he’s respectful, backs off and we carry on talking. Less than five minutes later, he tries again. Again, I’m like, ‘sorry, I’m not interested’ and then again he tries to kiss me and when I push him off of me, he screams in my face, ‘So you’ve been wasting my entire time this whole f--king evening? And I’ve bought you drinks and got you drunk for nothing?’ Now I did buy rounds, but that’s not the point. He then says that he was ‘out of my league’ anyway, storms off to these two girls who look just about freshly 18 years old, grabs them both by the back of the heads and forces them to kiss each other.”
The reality star then told her followers how she had left the night out following the row with Hugo before discovering he had blocked her the next day. “I just think that some men can be so entitled because of their positions in the media and you should always be careful if somebody brands themselves as the nice guy because actions speak than words. You wouldn’t need to say that if you just acted in ways that make people think that,” she added.
However, Hugo’s team issued a statement denying Lottie’s claims as they revealed he had been forced off social media in the wake of the allegations.
“Again, we are denying the false allegations and slander made recently. As everyone knows, there are two sides to every story and even more so in false stories fabricated for views. Not everything you see online is true. The social media industry can be a very toxic place and unfortunately filled with users with a single aim of putting others down in an attempt to elevate themselves.
“For now, we have decided that it is best for Hugo to take some time away from social media to focus on what is important; his personal relationships and his mental well-being; the latter, as you can imagine, has drastically plummeted due to the simply horrific comments being made towards him.
“For those of you that know Hugo and have met him know that he is a good human being. Don’t make someone another stat. Be kind and never assume. We hope that Hugo gets back to making his cherry, lighthearted and fun content.”
