Fitness fanatic Jennifer Lopez has been back in the gym recently. And while it may be helping vent her frustrations over reports that her marriage is in trouble, sources tell heat it’s really a bid to build the ultimate revenge body.
The singing superstar has gone from being in a loved-up fairy-tale marriage to actor Ben Affleck to living apart from her husband. And now insiders say Jen, 54, is throwing herself into fitness, both physically and mentally.
“Jennifer has been going turbo on her fitness and beauty regime. She’s up every morning doing lunges and squats, sweating her butt off at the gym, while lining up trips to the health spa,” we’re told.
“She’s going to use this summer to get in the best shape of her life, with a diet made up of lean protein and salads and no junk whatsoever. Ben was always criticising her for her OTT workout routine, and she’d eat junk food with him just to show she could be the girl he wanted. She kept her figure, but it caused her to break away from her optimal body. Now, she’s going hell for leather to get it back.
“It’s a tough challenge, but she’s enjoying it. She wants Ben to see what he’s missing while flaunting what she’s got, which will help her find a new guy when she’s good and ready.”
It was just last month that shock rumours first emerged claiming Jennifer and Ben, 51, were experiencing marriage struggles and on the brink of divorce. The pair have reportedly been quietly trying to sell the Beverly Hills mansion they bought together in May 2023, while Ben has apparently moved out and has been staying at a rental property in Brentwood, California.
Last month, Jennifer added further fuel to the speculation by announcing that her planned summer tour, which had been struggling with poor ticket sales, had been cancelled. On her website, she wrote that she was “heartsick” about the decision, adding, “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.” But while the couple have remained tight-lipped about their relationship status, Jennifer publicly tried to dampen the rumours on Father’s Day last week. The Atlas star posted a picture of Ben in the 2001 film Pearl Harbour to her Instagram Stories, which she captioned, “Happy Father’s Day to our hero.”
While Jen and Ben don’t have any children together, they have previously lived as a blended family with their kids from previous relationships. Ben shares Violet, 18, and Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52, who he’s been spending more time with in recent weeks, while Jen has twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex Marc Anthony.
The split rumours came as a shock to fans after Jen and Ben got back together in 2021, 17 years after they had first been linked. The couple had been engaged in 2003, calling things off just a year later. Then, in 2021, they rekindled their romance, marrying a year later – but it wasn’t long before rumours started that there was trouble in paradise, with Ben tiring of Jen’s love of the spotlight.
Amid the split rumours, Ben appears to be making big plans. Last week, a new Airstream vehicle was seen being delivered at the Gone Girl star’s temporary residence, suggesting the actor might be heading off on an extended summer road trip to clear his head. With her tour cancelled and her own summer now wide open, Jennifer has been pictured on a solo vacation in Italy. We’re told that, while the singer is “heartbroken” by the split, she’s determined to keep up her image as a strong, fierce woman.
“It’s crucial to her image that she does not appear defeated, so she’s making a point to be seen in public in full glam,” the source said. “Jennifer is refusing to lay down and play the victim.”
