They were one of the few success stories from the 2019 series of Love Island, alongside Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, but Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins have announced they've split.

Maura, who took part in the 2020 series of Dancing On Ice, took to her Instagram Story to reveal the sad news, admitting it "wasn't meant to be", despite the pair remaining good friends.

She told fans, "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.

"There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side.

"We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."

At the time of publication, Curtis is yet to comment on the heartbreaking split, but the pair have been struggling to find time for their relationship.

Curtis' last post about Maura came on Valentine's Day, where he wrote, "Happy valentine's day to this little button nose.. cant wait to see you later 😍 ... @maurahiggins you are a incredible person #loveyou."

Since they left the villa in third place last year, both Maura and Curtis have been incredibly busy with their work schedules. Not only was Maura on Dancing On Ice, Curtis landed a role on BBC show The Greatest Dancer, and he's going on tour with his brother, Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Pritchard.

The pair were last photographed together at the National Television Awards back in January, where they hosted the red carpet show and reportedly had to be kept apart after a boozy bust-up.
