With bombshells, shock twists and Casa Amor all to keep an eye out for, it’s safe to say that looking for love in the Love Island villa isn’t the easiest task. But it also seems dating on the outside world is just as difficult for one 2021 Islander who has opened up about their chronic illness.
Priya Gopaldas, who joined last year’s series of the ITV2 as a late entrant and coupled up with Brett Staniland before they were dumped as a couple, has candidly opened up about suffering from a lung condition called non-CF bronchiectasis and how it affects her love life.
The trainee doctor was diagnosed with the chronic condition – which occurs when the lung's airways are damaged and inflamed by large quantities of mucus – when she was 15 years old after being hospitalised with pneumonia a year earlier.
Priya explained, “I had this dreadful cough for about 18 months afterwards and I kept bringing up so much phlegm. I was backwards and forwards to the doctor and was told three of four times that I had asthma.
“But the inhalers I was prescribed didn’t make any difference to my breathing. Luckily my father, who was a chemist, was incredibly persistent and kept pushing for more tests.”

Weeks after the Love Island 2019 final and Lucie and Joe confirmed on Instagram that 'Juicy' was back together.

Arabella Chi was mugged off by Danny Williams who appeared to be devastated when she left the villa but he quickly bounced back with Jourdan Riane. Luckily the model got over him with Love Island 2018 finalist Wes Nelson and she was recently slated for 'PhotoShopping' a photo alongside her new man.

If you cast your mind back to Love Island 2015 you'll remember when Jon Clark famously proposed to Hannah Elizabeth. It didn't last (bless them) and he went on to star on TOWIE. Fast forward a couple of years and he dated Chloe Crowhurst but after the Love Island 2017 line-up was announced he publicly slammed her and revealed they were dating. After she left the villa they briefly reunited before calling it quits.

Charlie also got with Arabella before she entered the villa. He actually claimed that the model was a 'liar' and hinted they were still dating even when she went into the villa. After being booted from Love Islandshe branded him an 'idiot' and said they had blocked each other before she went on the reality show.

We really thought Kaz Crossley and Josh Denzel were going to last but alas they didn't. A few months after announcing their split Kaz announced on Instagram that she moved on with 2017 legend Theo Campbell. They since shared cute snaps on social media.

So Jess and Dom were happily coupled up in the villa but when the boys voted for her to leave they were both left devastated… Dom wasn't that upset though because he didn't follow her. Then there were reports that something went down with Mike Thalassitis but after Dom left Love Island he reunited with Jess, the pair got married and are set to welcome their baby into the world this year.

Love Island and Geordie Shore fans were stunned when Chloe Ferry claimed that her ex-boyfriend Sam cheated on her with Amber. Dramz. Sam and Amber have both denied the accusations but Chloe has insisted they're true.

However a couple of months later there were reports that Wes had been 'sexting' 2017 winner Amber Davies. Then on Celebs Go Dating, Amber claimed he had been messaging another Love Island star before she appeared to brand Amber a "snakey b-tch" on Instagram. Following the whole Amber/Sam allegations, Megan wrote: "Imagine moving like that and lying to numerous heartbroken girls that you ain't sh-gged their ex!"Amber denied the rumours in an emotional tweet.

Tbf, these two did share a little kiss on the main show, but then things got hella steamy and a little weird tbh in the reunion show when they snogged in a swimming pool. Nothing long term came of it.

Priya manages her condition through diet and exercise and admits running has been a “game-changer”, however cold weather and poor air quality can cause flare-ups. The 24 year old also says the illness can make relationships complicated.
She told The Mirror, “I have to explain the cough, which is constant, and often pretty uncontrollable. Then there’s the fact that I have to rush off and expel all the gunk I’m coughing up which isn’t great in a romantic scenario.”
Priya added, “I am very proactive about my illness and manage it really well, so it felt like my duty to help other people who were struggling with their breathing. Living through a pandemic has made us all more aware of our respiratory health – it’s definitely time to talk about how we should look after our lungs.”

Priya is set to make her return to reality TV later this year when she appears on BBC Three’s Eating With My Ex alongside her former flame Brett.
They coupled up in the Love Island villa when Priya chose Brett over Matthew McNabb but later admitted she was “bored” and found herself “zoning out” during their conversations. Then, of course, there was the infamous moment when Priya put Brett firmly in the friend zone when he told her his favourite cheese was brie.
The pair were dumped in a public vote after being chosen as one of the least compatible couples, but what will happen when they come face-to-face once again? We can’t wait to find out, tbh.
