Rylan Clark-Neal really is the classic story of a boy made good. From the wailing hopeful on The X Factor back in 2012, to the winner of Celebrity Big Brother and presenter of countless hit TV shows, Rylan has found his place in the nation’s hearts. But it seems not everything in his life is as perfect as it seems, as last week it was revealed that the 32 year old had split from his husband of six years, Dan Neal.
Before news of the split broke fans of Rylan – who had been quiet recently on social media after pulling out of hosting Eurovision in May and taking a break from his Radio 2 show – had been concerned for the star’s welfare, while Dan is understood to have now moved out of the couple’s home and into a rented flat in Essex.
Last week, Rylan released a moving statement, in which he said, “Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out, as the way it is being reported is unfair. I have made a number of mistakes, which I deeply regret and [which] have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage.”
Rylan continued, “I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help. I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to [say] thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time.”
He also posted on his Instagram, saying, “We are currently prioritising our mental health and looking after the ones around us we love the most. I am working towards getting back to the jobs I love in due course. Thank you for being patient with me.”
