Even with a personal brand as lucrative as the Beckhams’, you’ve always got to be one step ahead. And after youngest family member Harper hosted a VB-themed sleepover last week – where her friends got their hands on gift bags brimming with beauty goodies from Posh’s brand – we’re told the fashion mogul feels the 11 year old has a big future in the cosmetics world.
Now, an insider close to the Spice Girl, 48, has told us that Victoria Beckham hopes Harper can become one of the biggest names in teen influencing. “Vic has always wanted her fashion and beauty brand to be Harper’s one day, so she’s delighted she’s showing such an interest,” we’re told.
“She wants her daughter to be the girl who others follow, so that when she is old enough, the Harper brand is already up and running. She thinks there’s going to be teenagers all over the world looking to do spa days for their parties now.”
The source continues, “Vic wants to make sure that fashion and beauty are in Harper’s blood. Not only does she want her to be fully confident and savvy in this world, but she also wants Harper to be shrewd and influential.”
Proud mum Posh shared a clip of her daughter ahead of the lavish sleepover, surrounded by VB-branded goodie bags. Speaking from behind the camera, she said, “Harper is doing a Victoria Beckham Beauty sleepover with her friends. How cool is this? They’re going to have some beauty treatments – got their goody bags, and we’ve even set up a spa.”
Victoria – who launched her fashion brand in 2008, and has successfully branched out into beauty in recent years – later shared a follow-up Instagram story, where she used the hashtag #HarperSeven and called her daughter the “best host”.
It is not the first time the Beckhams have thrown around the Harper Seven hashtag. While Vic and the rest of the family – David, 47, Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 20, and 18-year-old Cruz – are Instagram-tagged in family posts, Harper’s name is always there, too. So, even though she is yet to have her own account (users must be 13 to have one), Posh has been savvy enough to have already built a brand for the almost-teen.
We’re told VB envisions a future for her daughter much like Kylie Jenner’s – who, aged 25, is currently worth around $750million, after starting her beauty business as a teenager, and Posh sees Harper’s relatability as the key to her success.
“Victoria has always had these dreams for a more budget-friendly teen-focused beauty line called Harper Seven. She knows that demographic are huge spenders in the make-up world,” says the source. “She’s definitely been inspired by Kris Jenner and how she has managed her children – when she looks at how Kylie’s beauty business blew up, it’s just astounding to be valued at so much when she’s so young.”
The insider continues, “Vic knows that to break the teen market, she needs an authentic, influential girl who everyone wants to be like, and Harper is so sweet – she’s got her tomboy side and loves her sport, but she enjoys girly things, too. Vic will be the mentor and the executive, but she wants Harper to be more than the muse or face of the brand. She wants her to be the force.”
The source adds, “Vic is delighted that she and Harper can enjoy fashion and beauty together. It’s an opportunity to teach her little girl all the things she needs to know in this business.”
