After 25 years of marriage, the Beckhams are stronger than ever, with the devoted couple gushing over each other on Instagram as they celebrated their milestone anniversary earlier this month. But, despite their PDAs, insiders have revealed there’s one aspect of their relationship they’re keen to improve – keeping the spark alive behind closed doors.
With their four children – Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 13 – getting older, we’re told the pair are hoping to spend this next chapter concentrating on themselves and rekindling the passion they had when they first met.
“Like any couple, it takes work to keep things exciting – especially after a quarter of a century – and Vic promised David on their wedding anniversary to spice things up and put the spark back into their marriage,” a source tells heat.
“While she and David have never had problems in the bedroom, it’s natural the intensity can dull, especially with children and hectic work schedules getting in the way. But now they’re in the next phase of their life with their kids growing up and flying the nest, Vic wants to give their romantic life a revival and get things back to the early days when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.”
It was Vic’s risqué look that first caught the attention of David back in 1996. As she donned a tight black leather outfit in the Spice Girl’s Say You’ll Be There music video, it was love at first sight for the former footballer. David, who began dating Victoria a year later, after they met in the Manchester United’s Players’ Lounge, famously said, “It’s my favourite song because it was the one that was on the TV when I was sat in my room with Gary Neville. It came on the telly and that was when I turned around to Gary and said, ‘I’m gonna marry that one in the short, black dress’.”
Since getting together, David, 49, and Victoria, 50, have often shared cheeky quips about their sex life. When asked what they get up to in the sheets, Victoria previously admitted, “I’m getting into bed with David Beckham every night, so, you know, there’d be something wrong if I said sleep,” before cheekily adding, “I tend to wear nothing, but David bought me these little sets from Agent Provocateur.”
And gushing over David’s infamous 2008 Emporio Armani underwear advert, Vic said, “I still have a really good sex life with David. He is very much in proportion. He does have a huge one, though. You can see it in the advert. It’s all his. It’s like a tractor exhaust pipe!”
More recently, in 2022, Vic joked about her hubby’s “sticky stuff” as he collected honey from his beehives at their Cotswolds home. And in 2020, David made his own saucy jibe when he secretly filmed Victoria’s bum and wrote on Instagram, “Looking good”, alongside two peach emojis.
And now, we’re told Posh is going all out to spice up their love life again. “As well as the obvious things, Vic’s been making more time for intimacy, booking getaways and being more spontaneous, which of course David has no complaints about,” says our insider.
Vic’s even said to be taking a leaf out of Abbey Clancy and Amanda Holden’s books, as both women are known for making racy confessions. Last week, Abbey, 38, revealed that taking a wonder pill – which she dubbed “female Viagra” – saved her sex life with husband Peter Crouch.
Likewise, Amanda, 53, who is married to record producer Chris Hughes, has spoken openly about her bedroom antics over the years and is no stranger to posting raunchy snaps on social media. “Victoria has been inspired by Abbey speaking out about the herbal supplement that helped her and Peter, and Amanda speaking so openly about her love life, too,” our source says.
“She’s seen Amanda’s incredible rise to becoming a pin- up in her fifties and that’s hugely inspiring. Vic thinks that being more vocal about her sex life will enable her to emulate Amanda’s success – with her new-found libido not only spicing up her marriage, but helping her to regain her sex-symbol status.”
